While doing some research yesterday, I stumbled upon a video clip that brought back some wonderful memories.
The clip came from the 1974 / 1975 season, Luton’s first back in top-flight football since the 1959 / 1960 season.
I was in my teenage years and that season was the first I had a season ticket for after saving up my wages from my evening paper-round.
I have some wonderful memories from that season which I am hoping to share in the coming months.
But the article today concentrates on a fixture that took place on 12-April-1975 when Leicester City were the visitors to Kenilworth Road.
The previous season I can remember Leicester City came to our neck of the woods for a fixture, I believe it was a cup tie, and Luton were routed.
But this fixture was different, Luton produced one of their best displays of the season and ran out worthy 3-0 winners.
However, my abiding memory from the game relates to the ‘best’ own goal I have ever seen scored, courtesy of the Leicester City player, Keith Weller.
It can be viewed in the brief coverage of the game in the video clip below:
Have you ever seen a better, or should that be more embarrassing, own goal?

Best one I saw was Marvin Johnson when the lobbed Les Sealey from outside the area, rendering Les strangely speechless.
when that happens the expressions on the faces tell the whole story
The one and only time les was ever speechless..lol..
