Luton – Nine More Points Will Be Enough To Secure That Play-Off Place

Image for Luton – Nine More Points Will Be Enough To Secure That Play-Off Place

As the inquest still goes on as to how we managed to come back from Huddersfield empty-handed lets park that and look to the future.

The Hatters have FIVE games left to clinch a play-off place and then push for a Premier League place for next season.

Those FIVE fixtures look as thus:

• Nottingham Forest (h)
• Cardiff City (a)
• Blackpool (h)
• Fulham (a)
• Reading (h)

Following the defeat at Huddersfield, one social post caught my eye:

Is that how you see things panning out?

If so will NINE more points be enough to clinch a play-off place, or will we have to get something against either Nottingham Forest or Fulham?

And, lastly, should we have any fears about facing Nottingham Forest or Fulham?

My views are that we can get the NINE points on offer in the games mentioned and it should be enough, but I’ve no fears about facing Fulham or Nottingham Forest, both are beatable.

But how do you see the last FIVE games going?

Wish I could be as upbeat as you mh. After the last 3 games I’m not so sure injuries this season since the start of the season all players have conspired against us. To be where we are is testament to the spirit in the squad that have got us this far. Maybe fatigue is setting in an costing us.

Just a quick insight. I was with medical team til late last night, the injury situation is utter madness & there are a few with niggles apart from the major concerns….but there is a huge upbeat feeling within the the squad too. So keep the faith….

Hi Alan, believe me I’m not trying to be a killjoy but the injuries this season have killed us. An no matter how upbeat the squad is you like me having played to a standard. No matter how good you feel at the start of the game sometimes you just can’t perform to the standard you want an for no reason. You can put your finger on. We’re not robots..

good to see your glass doesn’t need topping up Alan ……. …
the conviction shown within the squad has been the difference this season compared to the previous 2 seasons with us now having that belief we can bounce straight back after defeats or poor performances.

We’ll have fresh legs available in Berry, Kioso, Gomes and Lockyer was back training this week. Not sure where Burke’s at for a return to the side but he would be massive plus for the final run-in.

Despite Forest currently tanking along it’s highly unlikely they will continue to pick up 3 points every game, the fans need to play their part on Friday and make things as hostile and uncomfortable for Forest as possible if we are to halt their fine run of form and Brennan Johnson will need very careful attention. I would be more optimistic about a result had it been an evening game under the lights but it is what it is.

I agree, I’m not saying we are gonna win every game. I’m saying the heads haven’t dropped.

apart from two mistakes at huddersfield,we played well. what a great oppurtunity for luton to reach playoffs, with a different team every week. would have been a lot different with a team that have been together for longer. just consider the difference in budgets, we have done a great job just being in contention. just trying to remember who called us a little team, have’nt done bad for a little team. keep enjoying the ride.COYH.
