Luton – Nathan Reflects On Swansea Defeat

Although the Hatters lost, 1-0 at Kenilworth Road on Saturday, against Swansea City, there was not too much to be worried about.

It was the kind of performance where, on many other days, we would emerge the victors, indeed, we could often play worse and take the three points.

The defeat, as is often the case, had several contributory factors:

1 – Conceding an early goal (again)!

Although it could be pointed out that the defensive woes could be attributed to the weird weather that hit Kenilworth Road affecting individuals.

2 – A Failure to take our chances (again)!

Luton created chances but that final touch that was needed to convert them eluded us, on another day they might have hit the back of the net.

The defeat saw the Hatters slip to 16th place in the table although there is a healthy gap between us and the relegation places, with a win against Coventry, on Tuesday evening, being, in my opinion, enough to virtually guarantee at least another season in the Championship.

After the game, Nathan Jones concurred with my views, remarking to The BBC:

“A number of factors, decision-making by both officials and players probably cost us really and that’s the frustrating thing as I thought we were excellent for the majority of the game.

“We were front-footed… there were so many situations where we should have done better with.

“So much is disappointing, but there are so many positives, it’s just hard to see them, as we’ve just lost the game 1-0.”

Indeed, perhaps we just need Lady Luck to smile on us on a couple of occasions.
