Luton Linked With £10 Million Player

Shocked? So, was I when I stumbled across this little gem of a piece of speculation?

According to Football League World, the Hatters are one of several teams, supposedly, eyeing up a move for the Tottenham Hotspur winger Jack Clarke, with other possible destinations being Derby County, Millwall and Barnsley.

Back in the summer of 2019, Tottenham signed Clarke, from Leeds United, for a fee of £10 million.

The north London viewed the winger as one for the future but since moving to North London, Clarke has made just a handful of appearances with these being in minor competitions.

Since being on the books of Tottenham, Clarke has spent periods on loan with the likes of Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City, but without showing the skills expected of a £10 million player.

Our quoted source suggests that a move could be on the cards come the opening of the January transfer window, but would Luton be seriously interested?

Firstly, I believe that the transfer fee could be off-putting, I can’t see Tottenham letting him go for the price limit our club would be able to go to and, secondly, after failing to make a dramatic impact on loan with two Championship clubs, would he provide anything better than we already have?

Please feel free to have your say on the above subject matter in the comment facility beneath this article.

It doesn’t look viable from the information given. Just because Spurs paid £10m for him doesn’t make him worth £10m. They may have made an expensive mistake. However, if our scouts think he’s good enough and we could get him for a reasonable fee and within our wage structure I’d be happy enough.

Hi mh, this site has a very poor record of getting things right about us. So I would dismiss it out of hand.

MH We already have a number of players quite capable of playing the wing position. Short of loosing some key players due to injury I say leave well alone. Separate topic lets hope whoever plays on Saturday they appreciate how important a Luton win will be for the manager.

I reckon Nathan might just get a bit of stick from the Stoke fans, a win would shut them up but it will be a tough game.

Hope they do give him stick, as it will fire our players up to shut them up….boro fans tried it with cornick and look were that got them….coyh…
