Luton – Sheer Bliss As Three Goal Burst Stuns Middlesbrough

Last night, Luton Town put together a five-minute burst of football that had Kenilworth Road bouncing.

Until the 56th minute, with Middlesbrough leading 1-0, it felt as if it was one of those nights where it just was not going to happen for the Hatters.

But how wrong we were!

A 3-goal burst brought the ground to life and silenced the Middlesbrough fans who had made the long journey south.

The goal spree started with a header from Sonny Bradley, continued with a strike from Elijah Adebayo and concluded with an effort from Harry Cornick.

As a result, the win sees Luton climb back into the play-off places, occupying 6th place and stands us in good stead for the visit of Stoke City this Saturday.

Naturally, the win was well received on social media with the second half being gratefully received:

It was also pleasing to see the lads turn it on and win while being broadcast live on Sky Sports.

But while we are all excited to be in a play-off place, perhaps a word of caution for us all:

Bring on Stoke City is what I say!

Morning mh, yes a very nice win. But I thought that the game as a whole was poor. Neither team seemed able to string 2 passes together for much of the game except in short 5 min spells. An except for the 5mins when we scored 3 to many players were losing concentration arguing with the ref lansbury an Bradley the main offenders. An Bradley cost us the goal leaving his man to mark space without checking behind him. That said I’m satisfied with 3pts won ugly again. An probably will be a similar game sat.

Hi all , a pleasing night’s game . But like you Chris I was not happy with the way those two were in the refs face all the time , now Lansbury is out for the Stoke game . Hope bell is back for that one Potts had a hard night and Fred was not up to 5he job of defending. But three points in the bag and let’s hope we can win two on the trott. Coyh

arguing with the ref is creeping back into the game as a whole, loved it when Brian Clough was in the game, he used to discipline his players if they argued with the officials, his base line being “what’s the point, do they ever change their minds”.

Hi mh, just been reading a number of tweets lauding last night an screaming we’re going up. Sorry but that’s cloud cuckoo land at present. As we have said. No ground fit to play in it. An a team not yet fit to compete at that level. We’re probably 5 years or more from that!!! As last night’s performance proved.

I’ve said many times we are not in a position to go up yet. But all I would say is why is there such criticism when we fail to win. If we are happy to sit mid table then we will have to accept losing….just an opinion…

  • Alan says:

    I know, but its a catch 22…

  • Chris winter says:

Hi Alan, for me it’s the manner in which you lose. I can except when you can see you’ve been beaten by a better team but tried. But when you know they don’t seem to have tried that hurts. I know they don’t diliberately do it but then the frustration gets to much an words get said.

  • Alan says:

That’s why every win should be enjoyed. Last night’s results didn’t go to badly for us either…

  • Dave says:

it would suicidal to go up without the new ground & the financial backing of the commercial developments. 30 years ago we couldn’t pay the wage bill without selling year on year. those wages were PALTRY compared to today. Lets bide out time till we are financially much stronger.
