It was only the other day that I opted to comment on something that is now occurring with regularity.
My article – how-and-why-is-this-happening – referred to the re-appearance of flares being brandished / thrown on to the pitch.
The article concluded with a question relating to how long before something is thrown on to the pitch that causes an injury to a player.
Well, I didn’t have to wait long for a response!
At Goodison Park, on Saturday, with Everton playing Aston Villa, in a Premier League fixture, a bottle was thrown, by an Everton fan, that hit Lucas Digne and Matty Cash, leaving them both laid out on the pitch.
Thankfully, both recovered and continued to participate in the game.
But what bothers me, as you can see in the article headline picture, is the joy on the faces of some of the Everton supports captured in the photo, unbelievable!
Hopefully the authorities will come down hard on the perpetrator.
