Luton – How And Why Is This Happening?

When I was younger, I can recall, especially at away games, being systematically searched whenever I entered a football ground.

The search was thorough and carried out, by either a Police officer or a steward, and was very comprehensive.

Anything untoward was confiscated and you rarely saw it again.

These days, as an elderly citizen, I don’t tend to suffer the same persecution, instead those guarding the turnstiles step aside and wave me through.

But I’m beginning to believe those searching tactics are being relaxed.

Whatever reason can there be for the sudden appearance of flares being let off, when teams score, nowadays.

Its not just the occasional flare it is happening time and time again.

It makes me wonder, if the rigorous pat-down I used to be subjected to hasn’t been relaxed, how do these offenders get their flares into the ground?

Just where do they hide them?

Answers on a postcard please.

But worryingly, how long will it be before somebody on the pitch is hit by a lit flare and injured?

Your thoughts on the subject matter would be most welcome, especially comments on where the perpetrators manage to conceal the objects.
