After what many might call a 0-0 bore-draw, it’s often interesting to hear what the bosses of the two teams have to say after the game.

Speaking to The BBC, Nathan Jones made some very pertinent points:

“I thought we should have won the game because we had two glorious chances in the first half. Conditions really played a part, I didn’t realise how windy it was.”

I think it has been mentioned many times before about the necessity, in the Championship, to take any chances that fall your way.

Continuing, Nathan added:

“The amount of games we have had as well, you try to freshen things up, so you are always going to be missing that spark. We tried to win it late on but I’m really pleased.”

Fixture congestion is something we mentioned earlier this month – danger-lies-ahead-as-fixture-congestion-bites – and it is something we will have to continue to live with.

But, as we head towards February, I think Nathan sums things up perfectly, further adding:

“It has been a 10-point month plus the FA Cup win – I would have taken that all day long.”

And so would most of us I’d suggest.

As for the Blackburn manager, Tony Mowbray, who has seen his side overcome a 7-0 thrashing by Fulham to climb into the race for automatic promotion, he didn’t mince his words in describing the game, remarking to our aforementioned source:

“The game was absolutely shocking to be honest. I haven’t seen many worse football matches. But it was blood and thunder, it was guts. I think the officials had a really shocking day as well.”

Don’t you just love his honesty, was it really that bad?

But the standard of officiating is also something that featured among the numerous social media posts that appeared after the game;

Well, at least the referee’s dubious decisions affected both sides and not just us!
