Luton – It Is Far From All Over

Okay, from next Monday, 19-July, life will have a sense of normality again.

The restrictions we have lived under for the past eighteen months or so will be lifted.

However, the pandemic is far from over.

Those who follow the daily release of the COVID-19 related cases will have noticed that more than 30,000 new cases a day are being reported.

The government seems to have taken a huge gamble, believing the remarkable vaccination programme will keep the number of hospitalisation cases down.

But, in announcing the news, the Prime Minister did urge caution.

With our first EFL Championship game, at home to Peterborough United, not far away and with a capacity crowd expected and hoped for, how does the relaxation of the pandemic restrictions sit with you?

While it will be great to see the Hatters in the flesh again, are you still a little apprehensive?

Do you believe that additional steps need to be taken when it comes to admitting capacity crowds?

Will you, like me, be wearing a mask still?

Should it be necessary to produce proof of vaccination when attending?

It is an interesting subject and one, I hope, will generate a healthy debate.

So, please feel free to air your views in the comment facility beneath this article.

I’m sure the club will be taking advice on the best way forward the question of masks is down to the individual but if shops can insist on masks being worn then if the club sees fit it can insist as well. Personally I would want proof of both jabs been given before entry. But I will be castigated by younger fans as this discriminates against them. So if entry is arbitrary then probably I won’t attend. As I see a third wave is expected shortly.

it is a tricky scenario developing and one that each individual will have to fathom out for themselves

We all have to make the right call given that cases are increasing I would happily continue to wear a mask like I do at work as I work for the NHS and look after children any updates guys on a goal keeper think we are a bit light in that department and a striker who can play with the two big guys upfront

  • Graham says:

Totally agree with previous comments face mask and double jabs should be done. Especially in such a close environment less try to avoid a third wave

    • Andrew says:

Not sure how I feel about large crowds and a third wave does not help , I think I will be staying away from large crowds till we have a better handle on what is going on . Boris says open it all up but the rate going up again are we just going have to suffer this illness and just get in with life . I think we should wear masks getting into the ground then maybe take them off while in your seat as I don’t think the singing would be the same . Thanks NHS staff and coyh

Thanks guys for your support. Waiting now for the backlash from younger supporters 😊

  • David says:

With underlying health problems, I’m very reluctant to enter a large gathering of young or older supporters. I desperately miss the atmosphere of a live game, but have isolated for the duration of lockdown, I am still unwilling to put myself at risk with the rising number of Covid patients. I have always maintained that come September we will enter another long lockdown. I’m hoping that at this early stage of the season, members who are vulnerable will sill be able to access live television Luton games

    • Chris winter says:

Totally agree with you David, let’s hope that clubs will continue to allow us to view games live from home

  • Dave Jones says:

I’m sure the club will impose restrictions as they see fit. I would certainly wear a mask in any case. The thing that worries me is having to travel by train which I’ve avoided doing since Covid started. That might deter me from attending matches which I’d be extremely gutted about.

  • Eddie says:

One thing that cannot be done is to exclude those that have not had the vaccine – in the main they are the kids and young people who haven’t been permitted it yet. The club imposing face masks is unlikely to be possible as it would be too difficult to police. At this point it will, as is the government diktat, be down to the individual’s preference.

i think older people will be wary of attending games. another new variant could be sitting behind you ,shouting and singing as you do. the risk is down to the individual now, so you have to weigh up the risk. i personally would not feel comfortable to attend games at this time. not sure what would change my mind. • Chris winter says:

Morning mh, sounds like we got a conspiracy theorist on here now 😁😁

  • Chris winter says:

Either that or a Watford fan 😂😂

  • Chris winter says:

Mh we already have our own village idiot to keep us amused with his posts. Can’t you pass him on to vital Watford he would be right at home in a village full of them.

  • Pat the Hat says:

As a cancer survivor my immune system is fairly low, BUT, I’m desperate to get back to the Kenny so it’ll mask and gloves for me, plus shed loads of hand sanitizer and avoiding things like the food outlets & toilets as much as possible
