Luton – I Am Absolutely Livid

Am I the only one who is absolutely raging at this preposterous decision?

Now, when I decided to take early retirement, the years leading up to the decision were utilised to ensure that when I did so I would be debt free.

I paid my mortgage off and slowly, month-by-month, reduced by credit card bills were reduced to zero.

On my last day at work, when I signed off, I knew I was completely debt free and that I would be able, if I was frugal with my savings and my pension, be able to live comfortably.

But, last week, with the energy prices rising, the government decided that, to ease the crisis, every household would be given a £200 loan.

Now this is no ordinary loan, you can’t turn it down, you must pay it off at a rate of £40 a year meaning this enforced loan will take FIVE years to clear!

I can accept that some people need help but why put everyone into a debt situation many have fought for years to break out of?

Okay, energy prices are going up astronomically, but there must be other options, choices the individual can make, options where each person cuts their cloth accordingly and revises their lifestyle!

What happens in October when the ‘price cap’ is tipped to rise again, will another loan be foisted upon us?

Now I know this article isn’t football based, but the news really wound me up, but are there others out there who feel the same as me?
