Earlier today, the draw for the Carabao Cup 1st round took place.
Luton were given a tough tie against Norwich City, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.
Norwich are the only side, out of the three that were relegated last season, to appear in the first round draw.
Therefore, it is probably fair to say that Luton have been given the toughest tie possible out of those clubs that form the Southern Section draw.
The one saving grace is that the tie will take place at Kenilworth Road on Saturday 05-September giving the Hatters home advantage.
As is the norm in these far from normal COVID-19 pandemic times, it will, of course, take place behind closed doors.
Hopefully, the Hatters will overcome the threat posed by Norwich and march on to the second round, but it will be tough!

Former Luton Boss Takes New Job With Championship Rivals
Think Norwich will be a good work out….pkay as a preseason before the more important games start…
Hi Alan, yet again we agree on this.
Hi mh, read this post with interest. You an I are diametrically opposed on it. I personally don’t think the game is anything more than a pre season friendly we can use to prepare for the league games to come. This cup is of no interest in this climate just adding more pressure on clubs in difficult times. I’m quite happy to lose this game an the team suffering no injuries. For me the league position is our goal
Good point but doesn’t everyone love a cup run?
Hi mh, yes we do in normal times. But sadly these aren’t. An this cup is a waste of space at this time
Cup run is ok as long as it doesn’t affect the league, but I think in these times and I think the league is the main thing for us this year….even if we beat Norwich getting a big team next means nothing as the big boys don’t bother with this cup early doors….
and with the likelihood of behind-closed-doors being the norm there’ll be no gate revenue
spot on Chris, an excellent draw for us at home to arguably the best team in the division. The Carbao cup is nothing more than a distraction for us so hopefully we will exit the competition at the earliest point with the players having benefited from a very tough fixture. We can then fully concentrate on improving our 19th place finish which has to be our priority.
Hi all, see izzy brown off to Sheffield wed…good luck to them with that one, least the treatment table wont get cold…..
Hi all, should have known the efl would bottle it an put watford away in September. So no visit to the scummers. Still a tasty visit in April from them. An a nice balance of games to start with should give a good idea of where we are going
Hi chris, was expecting scum to be 1st game. But that would have been to obvious from efl. Good steady start tho, could give us a good chance of getting some early points on the board….
Hi Alan, so bree is about to join us full time on a transfer what do you think of that.
Hi Alan, yeh I agree good steady start. Surely we should be able to take maybe 10 points or more from the first 5 or 6 games.
To be fair under gj I didn’t rate bree, but he was playing at left back….under nj he looked a different player and we do need a right back….
Hi Alan, personally for me the judge is still out on him. An £750,000 down an £50,000 per 50 games an 20%sell on clause seems a gamble. I see we are after another young midfielder from a Midlands club what’s that about!! Nj must have both our centre half’s in his confidence as don’t hear anything about cover for them.
Like I said i think bree is a different player under nj…central defence is an issue…seems the ccv deal is dead in the water….but there is still s couple of weeks for some sort of cover in that department to evolve…
Noticed today rea and crannie being used as central defenders….
Hi Alan, remember rea was signed as a centre half from Brighton by Nathan and he turned him into a defenceive midfielder here an crane has played centre half many many times so maybe he’s just looking at cover for Pearson an Bradley to me in case. Instead of signing one
