And so, the New Year is upon us, but it remains to be seen what lies around the corner.

However, one piece of news that has already broken, in 2022, is that the club has announced – Official Site – that Nathan Jones has put pen-to-paper on a new contract that will, barring a disaster, see the Welshman in charge of the side until, at least, the end of the 2026/2027 season.

It is a massive vote of confidence in the man who, after being axed by Stoke City, was man enough to make a return to Kenilworth Road, knowing his decision to leave us was not something the support gracefully accepted.

But his return helped to erase the mess created by his predecessor, Graeme Jones, and the club has continued to progress with a very healthy 12th place finish last season, something we hope we can better this time around.

Looking into the world of social media, the news has been very well received by the supporters and, indeed, one player, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who commented about the announcement:

As for the support, most of the comments I found enthused about the news:

Now, normally, I try to offer both sides to an argument when it comes to social media comments but, honestly, I cannot find any negative comments relating to the deal so let’s provide a few more positive ones:

Long may the good times continue (when we get to resume playing again) and congratulations to Nathan and the Luton hierarchy for getting this deal over the line.

Can’t say that I’m raising the roof about this. Not saying I want him sacked or anything else like that. But his constant crap comments an selective team selection. Mean that until something better comes along he can continue to manage. Not such a glowing review is it after all the hype on other sites.

The other fear is if it does go all wrong, his pay-off would cost the club a substantial compensation fee.

  • Alan says:

Happy new year to you too…..

    • Chris winter says:

Sorry Alan, but I can’t get excited by the news, one way or another. But I don’t agree with mh about compo either. By the way any news about a possible trip to the South Coast in January?

  • Andrew says:

Glad he has signed a long term contract as it better the devil you know , just look what happened when he left last time Look what happened when GJ was here . Coyh

    • Chris winter says:

Yes Andrew, an I was the first to warn everyone gj was going to be a disaster. So your right better the devil you know.

Hi Chris I’ve heard a few little mutterings, still hearing a prem player may be loaned to help in his return from injury. But on the hole quite quiet do to people having to isolate. Just to add, a couple of staff I have direct dealings with have tested positive even tho they a triple jabbed.

    • Chris winter says:

Yeah Alan, I’m triple jabbed but it seems it just alleviates the symptoms not protects you. Luckily I’m still free from it. I did hear a possibility of a reloanee being considered you know who.

  • Alan says:

I’m triple jabbed too, just have watch what we do. Making my job difficult at the mo tho…..As for the loan, I’ve heard a name mentioned.
