Luton Could Lose This Striker In The January Transfer Window

Watching the coverage of the Premier League fixture between Newcastle and Manchester United, did anyone else notice one huge, maybe, significant moment?

When the Newcastle striker Callum Wilson left the pitch injured with a calf injury that was, subsequently diagnosed as likely to keep him for several months, fears re-emerged that it could influence Luton Town.

Previously, here on Vital Luton Town, we had discussed the possibility of Elijah Adebayo being a January transfer target, following his fine start to his Luton Town career – striker-linked-to-move-nonsense – with it being dismissed as speculative journalism.

However, with Wilson out injured, for a lengthy period, Newcastle need to recruit a replacement, on an urgent basis.

A media vehicle, local to the north-east – The Chronicle Live – is of the belief that the Newcastle boss, Eddie Howe, may now make a move for Adebayo, as he is now desperate to sign a goal scorer to halt his sides plunge towards relegation from the topflight.

A plunge which, considering the massive financial investment the club has received, would be considered an unmitigated disaster.

Now whether Luton Town would be prepared to sell remains to be seen but, those of us who are long in the tooth, know that on most occasions, money talks.

But what are your views on the situation, can you see Elijah Adebayo in a Newcastle shirt, or will he remain loyal to the Luton cause?

Sorry mh, I still believe that this has no chance of going through. They need a proven prem goalscorer now not only that but with the position they are in would he want half a season in the prem before being back in the championship. Also he could then be put in the under 21s next season if they spend big in the summer.

Good points Chris, but who, as a proven Premier League goal scorer can Newcastle nab? Could a massive salary increase tempt Elijah?

  • Chris winter says:

I still think they will pay big money loan deals for the likes of martial

could well be until they know what league they’ll be playing in next season, if they remain in the Premier League it’ll be interesting to keep an eye on their summer spending and who they can tempt to St James Park

  • John says:

Your talking garbage why would one of the richest clubs in the world fighting for Premier league survival take a punt on a rookie championship forward
