Playing the loan system is always a dangerous game.

You never quite know what to expect when you take a player on loan.

While most are eager to impress, some do not always live up to expectations.

When the Hatters signed Rhys Norrington-Davies, from Sheffield United, on loan, they hit the jackpot.

Since joining Luton the defender has shown he has an outstanding future.

His performances for the Hatters saw him make his full debut for the Welsh national side and we had hoped that the 21-year-old would continue to be a mainstay of the Luton Town defence for the remainder of the season.

But, sadly, it is not going to happen.

After just 22 appearances for Luton Town, the club are reporting, Official Luton Town, that the defender has, with immediate effect, been recalled by Sheffield United.

The Blades are having a terrible season and have yet to win a Premier League game this season, amassing just 2 points out of a possible 51 and look certain to be relegated.

After impressing for Luton, perhaps the Sheffield United manager, Chris Wilder, feels Norrington-Davies can improve his defence, or maybe there is another twist to this tale.

Here at Vital Luton Town, we can only wish Rhys all the best as he returns to his parent club and thank him for his time with us which he used to perfection to enhance his career.

With Rhys gone, have we uncovered the reason why Nathan Jones cut short Peter Kioso’s loan spell at Bolton Wanderers?

Only time will tell.
