Luton – Boss Relatively Pleased With Latest Showing

It must have been a frustrating ninety-minutes for Nathan Jones on Saturday as his side toiled without reward.

After demolishing Coventry City, 5-0, just days earlier, the gaffer had to watch on as Huddersfield Town set up to frustrate Luton with the emphasis on defence.

The Hatters had the chance to sneak a win and if Amari’I Bell had taken the chance that fell his way, in the first half, then I am sure the game would have evolved completely differently.

After the game, giving his post-match interview, and as reported by The BBC, Nathan had this to say about the teams performance:

“I’m relatively pleased, not with the draw but with the overall performance.

“I thought we were totally dominant in the first half and it shows the respect we’re building now because they’re normally an aggressive side that want to play and want to be dominant in possession and we didn’t allow them that.”

I must admit I was a little surprised that Huddersfield, who were above us in the table, did not go for it more and try and put Luton on the back foot, or were they concerned about the counter-attacking football that destroyed Coventry City?

Continuing, Nathan mentioned the missed chance but also added something that summed the side up during the game:

“We missed a glorious chance to take the lead and then we probably didn’t show enough quality in the final third – we had 21 crosses in the first half, but just needed a little bit more guile.”

I am sure a little more guile, artistry and patience would have paid dividends, but we all know what they say about hindsight!

Further continuing, Nathan added:

“I’m pleased with the levels we’re showing. I’ve spoken to people I know on their staff and they were fearful coming here today, so that’s the reputation we’re now building.”

Now I’ll be brutally honest and while accepting we are a solid outfit who, on our day, can live with anyone, I’m not sure about the fearful bit, are you?

Morning mh, I don’t think teams fear us either. Respect us yes as they know we’ll give Anyone a game. But to be honest I’m really frustrated. I’m not moaning about anyone or the way we are playing just how often good goal scoring opportunities going to waste. Coventry seems like a 1 off. Every other game a post or crossbar thwarts us or defender on the line with the keeper beat. I feel like someone is moving the goals lol😊😊

i think there is always an element of fear going to any other team.but certain things such as elijah, probably frightens the life out of opposition.this works both ways, part of what makes this game so exciting, frustrating, annoying, the list is endless. COYH.
