Ahead of the game, yesterday, with Nottingham Forest, the importance of getting something from it, to retain our interest in a play-off place, was emphasised.

Although I hoped that the Hatters could get all three points on offer, I thought it would take an inspired performance to do so and that is exactly what we got.

The game might not have been the best we’ve seen but the resilience, discipline and application the players gave stood them in very good stead.

With the game decided by a penalty, taken by Kal Naismith, we had to then survive a better performance, from Forest, in the second half, to hang on to the three points.

The three points saw us move above our opponents, in the table, and with just FOUR games left, the push for a play-off place is well and truly on and the subsequent glory it could bring.

After the game, talking to The BBC it was no wonder that Nathan Jones was a happy chap, with the gaffer remarking:

“It was a magnificent performance. First half I thought we were outstanding – really, really good. Then we had to dig in, defend our box well and we did.

“Sheasy made a good save, they hit the post. Apart from that, I can’t remember another chance.

“I thought tactically we were superb. Two of the outstanding young individuals in the league this year have been Brennan Johnson and Djed Spence and we went with Amari’i Bell and Fred Onyedinma against them.

“I felt they were exceptional today, so tactically I thought we were brilliant. We went up against a top, top side and managed to get the win.”

Indeed, we did but what is important now is that we don’t show the inconsistency we’re famed for when we visit Cardiff City, on Monday, a win in South Wales would be superb and really get us all jumping up and down about the play-offs in May.
