Disappointed, glad, happy or not at all interested, how did you view the FA Cup draw?

Sat in front of the gogglebox yesterday evening, watching the FA Cup 3rd draw being made and broadcast live from the Birkenhead Broadcasting Company, in Liverpool, I was keen to see who Luton Town, ball number 22, would be paired with.

They say, when it comes to the FA Cup, you should, first, hope for a home draw.

Well, that part of the legacy came true when Mark Wright, formerly of Liverpool, drew out ball number 22, but then, I’m afraid to say, it all went a little flat when Luton Town were paired with Wigan Athletic, a fellow Championship side.

It is hardly the money-spinning tie I had hoped for and I desperately searched, in my mind, for some positives to say about the forthcoming tie.

Finally, I stumbled upon one, Wigan are, as many may have forgotten, a former winner of the trophy having beaten Manchester City, in 2013, at Wembley, the pinnacle of their career as a professional club.

But I guess the acid test, when it comes to the draw, is how big the attendance, at Kenilworth Road, will be.

Usually, for home matches, Kenilworth Road is sold out or not far from it, I reckon we’ll be lucky to get 7000 for this tie, such is the magic of the FA Cup (not).

However, it does give the Hatters an ideal opportunity to reach the 4th round where, perhaps, more attractive opposition awaits us.

Morning mh, like you I have no enthusiasm for the draw. An frankly could not care about the result. No magic in it just another game.

I think the FA cup has lost it’s appeal. Big clubs don’t take it seriously, minnows that get through early rounds make a few bob, but that’s it. It is now viewed much as the league cup always has been, with indifference.
