After selecting one side of the great Irish north and south divide, it’s only fair I balance things out.
Yesterday, I selected a starting XI, plus substitute, compiled of those players who had connections with the Republic of Ireland and Luton Town – luton-a-republic-of-ireland-xi.
Today, I thought I’d come up with a starting XI, plus substitute, for those with Northern Ireland connections and Luton Town FC.
I thought it might be a harder task but, in the end, it all sort of fell into place and I came up with the following:
Goalkeeper – Tiernan Parker
Defender – Keith Rowland
Defender – Mal Donaghy
Defender – Chris Nicholl
Defender – Darren Patterson
Midfield – Danny Wilson
Midfield – Cameron McGeehan
Midfield – Pat McCourt
Striker – Iain Dowie
Striker – Phil Gray
Striker – Billy Bingham
Substitute – Paul McVeigh
Can you think of others that fit the criteria and, maybe, should have been included in the starting XI?
I must confess my knowledge of the Hatters players only goes back to my first season, 1967/1968, even then I was only 6 years-old, but I’m sure those who are older than me can recall the names of players who could challenge for a place in my starting XI.
If so, simply drop their names in the comment facility beneath this article.
