The 4th round FA Cup replay, against Grimsby Town, is upon us on Tuesday with the winners set for an enticing looking tie away to Southampton.
For the Hatters that would mean locking horns with their previous manager, Nathan Jones.
For the original tie, at Kenilworth Road, Grimsby Town brought, circa 1500 supporters for what, for them, was a lovely Saturday away.
However, with the replay being on a Tuesday night, I’m not so sure Luton will get any where near that amount following them up to Cleethorpes.
If it were a Saturday game, I ‘d wager a bet that the Hatters travelling support would match that figure, but looking at the previous round where a mere 191 travelled to Wigan, I fear that figure may be matched.
But, forever optimistic, I thought I’d canvas the Vital Luton Town fraternity to see if they were thinking along the same lines.
Using the poll facility, I asked the simple question:
How Many Fans Will Travel to Grimsby For the Replay?
Offering three options:
• 0 – 150
• 151 – 350
• Above 350
And it seems the majority concurred with my view with 53% going for 151 to 350
Hopefully, I’ll be proven wrong, and the travelling army will descend on Blundell Park in their droves, but, sadly, I can’t see it, the distance, the competition and the ongoing cost of living crisis are all making people very selective.

It’s not the getting to Grimsby/Cleethorpes that’s the problem for me, it’s the getting back to London afterwards. There’s either a train/coach/train combo that gets me home at 06:30 or train only, where I would have to wait on Cleethorpes Station until 5am.
Think I’ll stay at home!
