With the Championship 2021/2022 season all but confined to the history books, I thought I’d do a review of how our new signings fared.

I also thought it would be good to see how you thought the new acquisitions performed.

The aim is to cover them in separate articles, giving you the opportunity to air your views.

Each article will also include a poll relevant to the player.

The first player I have chosen is our Scottish midfielder, Allan Campbell.

Campbell arrived at Kenilworth Road on 15-June-2021 for an undisclosed fee from the Scottish Premier League side, Motherwell.

His early arrival allowed him to enjoy a full pre-season and integrate with his new teammates.

He arrived with glowing references from the Motherwell supporters, something we covered in an article, at the time – campbell-passes-the-acid-test,

In his first season, Campbell made 31 Championship starts for Luton and a further 2 more from the bench.

During those appearances he hit the net on 4 occasions, scoring against – Bournemouth (h), Reading (a), Barnsley (h) and West Bromwich Albion (h).

His combative style saw him pick up 8 yellow cards and a couple of injuries.

My opinion is that Allan had an outstanding season at the heart of the Hatters midfield. His endeavour has, I reckon, moved him closer to a Scotland international call. My only complaint is he could do with increasing his goals/game ratio, but, hopefully that will come in time.

But how do you rate Allan’s first season in a Hatters shirt?

Please feel free to vote in the poll below and have your say in the comment facility beneath this article.

Morning mh, for me he’s the best signing since adebayo these 2 with naismith Bradley have become the spine of the team and in my opinion we need another like him in the team. We have always done well when we’ve had 2 combative midfielders spring an mclaren. Nicholls Horton preece.

Allen is a real workhorse , I would like to know or not where the batteries are just keeps going . If he can keep playing like that over the season why soothers need a rest . Maybe a few more goals but that’s not his main job . He is our kante . Coyh

Reminds me of Alan Ball with his perpetual motion.

Took a few games to get the pace of the league but then went on to be outstanding, I don’t think the title the Lanarkshire Kanye was too much over the top.

In my opinion . We are two creative midfielders and one quality striker away from an excellent team . One mil for the midfielders and one mill for a striker with speed . Father time come to us all . Strikers with heart not speed is not the way forward . Sorry but the truth? Do you really want to go up !

lets see what happens with osho and thorpe. fred has to be played in the right position to show his skill. lets hope we dont resort to the same old team again. we have young exciting players gagging to get in this team, give them a chance. must rotate players, or we might end up with the injury nightmare again.
