This time last week there was hope that a select few, some 1000 spectators, would get to watch the Hatters from inside the confines of Kenilworth Road.
As it turned out, two of the ten clubs who had volunteered for the new scheme, designed to get spectators back into the grounds amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, had to opt-out, citing the lack of time to complete preparations as the reason.
We hoped it was only a temporary measure and that come October, Luton Town FC would be able to let a limited number of spectators inside the ground.
The events of the last 24-hours appear to have kyboshed that hope.
With the COVID-19 pandemic making an unwanted upsurge in the number of cases being reported, it is expected that the government will, today, confirm that several new measures are to be introduced, to slow down the march of the virus that has changed the way we live.
One of those measures is expected to be the postponement of the measure to introduce spectators back into grounds.
For how long is not yet clear.
But with warnings that the next six months are going to be a hard battle, I can not see football returning to normal at all this season, how about you?

Luton – Should Nathan Jones Stick or Twist
Hi MH, I fear you could be right that football may have to play in empty stadia for the majority if not all this season at the very least unless a vaccine is found beforehand of course. I think the other point is how many clubs can survive while this situation continues down its unpleasant & unwelcome course. Its a pity society couldn’t be separated with the vulnerable protected & the rest recieve then become immune to the virus so we can get back to some semblance of normality but I know this is probably fanciful thinking on my part although I’m sure stranger things can happen. At least Luton have adapted excellently to this new way of playing so I suppose we should be thankful of small mercies if nothing else. Here would be a good question for you to put to the others… Luton get promoted to the Premier league with no crowds or finish Mid table with them back in? Would you agree that could be a very interesting vote? COYH
Leave that question with me 🙂
Thanks MH
😊
Hi all, I may be contravershal over this but I’d settle for midtable with or without a crowd at this time promotion without a new stadium would probably not be allowed!!! By the powers that be as it wouldn’t be up to scratch.
lol, you’ve jumped the gun, the article isn’t set to be published until tomorrow 🙂
