Luton – Should Nathan Jones Stick or Twist

If you were Nathan Jones what would you do?

The Hatters have made an exceptional start to their campaign.

The gaffer has guided the side to four wins in four games, two in the Championship and two in the Carabao Cup.

The reward for the second of those Carabao Cup wins was a home tie against Manchester United.

But does the boss face something of a dilemma?

The Championship, and ensuring we do not replicate the events of last season are our priority but then again, wouldn’t it be good to turn over Manchester United in the cup?

With the above in mind and if you were in Nathan’s shoes what would you do?

Would you field your strongest side against Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s struggling team or would you rotate the starting eleven with that crucial fixture against Watford looming large on the horizon?

Hi mh, I suspect he will name pretty much the same team as started reading. Also see my post about our new first team coach to be announced later today

Hi all, don’t think utd will go anywhere near full strength and our squad 11 are more than capable of putting up a sound performance…lot of people are saying the cup will interfere with the league, but at the moment we have a cup 11 and a league 11….anyone who plays 2moro who aren’t in the current starting 11 will want to show what they have to offer…let’s enjoy it while we can. We deserve it after the debacle of this time last season….

I hope he fields the same team as played reading. They played really well and I thought were more exciting than Saturday’s team.

  • Alan says:

Hi chris don’t know much about him, would have liked Sheehan in, but maybe inexperienced. Nj obviously knows the guy and at the moment cant really knock his judgement…

  • Alan says:

Forest clearly rate him, as reports say they are gutted he is leaving….

Hi Alan, my query in an earlier post was why does forbes not want to be first team. If so fine but if he does an I’m not hearing from my contacts that he an the players are unhappy then when we are flying high why the change. I don’t see the need or spending more money at this time. I also thought sheets was in line for a job. Anyway anyone for the moon over the water saterday early start again what are the scum frightened of poor little us.

  • Danny says:

I’d be surprised if we didn’t play the same side that did the business at Reading with the bench again made up of Saturday’s starters.
Cohen coming in from Forest sounds an astute signing judging by the reaction of their fans to him leaving and perhaps Mick want’s to concentrate on his scouting role ?

Herts Police have now requested that Saturdays KO be brought forward to 12:30, which reminded me of the 12 noon KO in Sept 1994 when we were put in the Rouse stand to watch us stroll to victory.

Hi all, cant believe the early kick off….what’s the point…don’t herts police realise ‘ WE AINT ALLOWED IN’….stupid pointless idea…apart from the fact we WILL be top of the table for a few hours at least….

  • Alistair says:

I totally agree with you Alan regarding the earlier kick off, maybe the ref is on a promise? 😂 Think though it will be tough as to be fair to Watford they have started well too. Obviously would love another win but a point wouldn’t be the end of the world would it? As for Tuesday I think he will stick with the Cup side to start & name the strongest possible bench in case things aren’t going to plan. If we could win both these games then what a filip it would be going forward for the rest of the campaign, the sky rwally could be the limit as to what these lads could achieve. Also I was wondering, although it sucks, since the grounds became empty last season, if Luton might hold the best points record in the EFL as it certainly seems to suit them with no fans in attendance? (6 wins on the bounce & counting…).

The more time the fringe/ bench players Get to play the fitness requirement needed to come on when needed increases .play the team that beat reading with a bench full of saturdays squad As suggested .
Would be nice to see all new signing in action V watfraud though.
New C half and Clarke must play .surely .
      Whatever decision ,

      I’m still Luton till I die 🎩

  • Clive says:

Pick the players who got us into this round.
