Former Goalkeeper Linked With Luton Move

The transfer window may be firmly shut, until the summer, but it does not stop something we all thrive on, transfer speculation.

Today, one news source, The 72 has resurrected the inference that the Hatters could be set to revive their interest in signing a goalkeeper that has already had a spell at Kenilworth Road, earlier in his career.

The goalkeeper in question is Christian Walton, who made 33 appearances for Luton Town during the 2016 / 2017 campaign.

Walton, still just 25-years-of-age, is out of contract at Brighton and Hove Albion at the end of the season and will be a free agent.

However, with regards to the speculation you may ask yourselves why would Luton have any interest in signing another goalkeeper when we are admirably served by Simon Sluga and James Shea?

It is a fair point and the only reason I could foresee the Hatters making an approach for Christian Walton is if they decide to cash in on our Croatian international to raise funds to strengthen a squad, bearing in mind that the ongoing pandemic has reduced financial revenue streams.

Is it something you could see happening or is it just a red herring thrown into the mix by an overenthusiastic journalist?

Your thoughts on the above subject matter would be most appreciated.

This is a rumour that keeps resurfacing.. maybe there is something in it…

Hi Alan, nj has repeatedly said how much he admires him. Maybe that’s why these rumours keep coming up. An so do the rumours about Turkish clubs wanting sluga. For me isted is coming along well an if sluga or shea were to leave in the summer then maybe we should have a go at getting him

  • BOB JACKSON says:

Without a doubt Sluga is a very good goalkeeper and his performances have and are attracting attention from bigger clubs. He was a ‘big buy’ for Luton but a wise and prudent one as he was clearly identified as an investment that would generate profit for the club when sold on as I think he will be in the close season

  • Paul says:

Never been a fan of Sluga, overvalued and overrated, we will never get that money back.
I feel much more comfortable when Shea is in goal, would have Walton back tomorrow, keep Shea.
