Luton – What To Do With KDH

An intriguing question and one that has been prompted by the comments left on this site.

Whenever things do not quite go right, on the field of play, with the Hatters, when defeat is snatched from the jaws of victory, I have noticed that, in recent times, the name of Kiernan Dewsbury Hall features prominently in our comment facility.

The 22-year-old, on a season long loan from the Premier League side Leicester City, started his Luton career in fine style showing just why he was so highly rated by his parent club.

However, in recent games, especially where things have not gone well for Luton, Dewsbury-Hall’s contribution has been criticised, as the comment below would suggest:

“I’ve said myself a few weeks ago (when others were on Pellys back) KDH isn’t firing as he was when he 1st came here & should be benched for a while….”

His game has slipped from its normal high standard and his distribution has been criticised with it being suggested that he had developed a tendency to move the ball sideways as opposed to forward.

“KDH for me at the moment is lacking confidence he’s becoming a McLaren a real crab.”

Such criticism has resulted in a call for the young midfielder to be rested for a couple of games with Nathan Jones being asked to give Berry or Moncur a chance.

“Who replaces him Moncs, Berry someone else?”

But what are your thoughts on the above suggestion?

Should Dewsbury-Hall be rested for a couple of games or should he be allowed to play through this, apparent, poor spell of form?

Please feel free to have your say in the comment facility beneath this article.

I like KDH, but as I have said before he isnt firing….I dont think he should start at present….might make him think a bit…we haven’t really got enough games, just to say, let him play through his bad spell…how long Is a bad spell.??…others that have been left out, have come back strong, so it could work for him too…

How ever did KDH get man of the match on Saturday with Sky? Naismith,Pelly and Clark were well ahead of him, in one of the sunday papers KDH got 5 with Naismith and Pelly both 7’s. Mind you Sky’s interpretation of championship matches is poor they tend to latch on to the bigger team of better known players .

KDH – Premier League connection may have swayed their views! I though Naismith was deserved of the award.

Hi Pete, think your right, sky like to big up premier players that are on loan….they used to get well excited over izzy brown too….Naismith for me too…think he has found his true position…had pellys shot gone in, maybe he could have edged MOM….

    • Mad Hatter says:

Izzy Brown has potential but I’m not sure he’ll reach the dizzy heights he was tipped to reach in his younger days when he moved from West Brom to Chelsea as a 16-year-old.

Hi guys, me an Alan have had our say as copied by mh. But the man who calls the shots nj has said he feels obliged by Leicester to play him an ride out his lack of form. So I doubt he will be

  • Danny says:

he should of been benched a while back instead of playing through this on-going poor patch, i can’t see NJ resting him despite his form dipping and replacements waiting in the wings. I wonder whether they may be something in the loan agreement which stipulates if fit he plays etc

  • Danny says:

yep, i wouldn’t be surprised if there is some sort of clause in his loan agreement MH

Sounds feasible….if that’s the case start him & hook him after 5 mins …lol…

KDH was given Man of the Match by SKY pundit even though we lost to Swansea. To my mind he is without a doubt in the top 3 of players in the Championship and certainly our most talented player and a delight to watch.
A few odd passes, yes of course and he made need a rest but Nathan Jones needs to be careful with what match(es) he rests him for if indeed he needs one.
We outplayed Swansea for most of the game and KDH was instrumental in that if we can start converting chances into goals we are a top 6 side.We have a really good squad of talented players and at a youthful soon to be 74 year old I’m excited at the prospect of where we could be. Hi all, firstly to be honest I have criticised Naismith in the past but I have to agree with MH & others it seems he has now found his best form & position. Also regarding KDH, I am beginning to wonder if this may be a weakness of Nathan’s as in not recognising when a player would benefit from a break. Several players like Ruddock & Rae have come in for criticism at times this season for under par performances but perhaps they were being overplayed. I know sometimes it could be players have to play if the team are short on cover or if as has been said KDH must play as part of the deal he came with but there are a few who just aren’t getting a look in right now yet if they are suddenly thrust into the limelight they are often rusty & need time to gel in again. I just feel NJ doesn’t involve enough players unless his hand is forced by injury etc. Let’s face it this is a really tough league & I think more squad rotation could pay big dividends.
