The recent away game, at Queens Park Rangers, will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

After the game, a Luton supporter, now named as Brian Rourke, was savagely attacked in the vicinity of the ground.

It was an incident we chose to report on, on two occasions – were-you-a-witness-to-what-happened – and – friday-night-qpr-incident-updates

After the incident, Brian was put into an induced coma, to stabilise his body.

Today, with the Hatters travelling support on the road to Blackpool, The BBC, are reporting that Brian has now come out of the coma and is responding to treatment.

Our referenced source carries some quotes from Brian’s wife Vee, which read:

“He is off the life support machine now; they’ve taken him off the ventilators, they’re slowly reducing his sedation and currently reviewing his brain injuries.

“It’s predominantly in his right side so we know the left side of his body isn’t working as it should be.

“He is going to have to have rehabilitation to walk and talk again.

“We’re going to have Brian back. It’s going to be a long road but we will get there.”

It is great news, and we hope a Luton win today will cheer Brian up.

Meanwhile, we would also like to point out that an online fundraising page has already raised in excess of £20,000, a page designed to help the whole family through what are very difficult times.

If you wish to donate, please follow the link: Click Here, every penny raised will help the family through what will be a long rehabilitation programme and we wish them all well.
