I bet there are not many teams out there who, in their ranks, have a twenty-one year as their longest serving player.
Well that is exactly the case with Jake Howells
Howells who put pen-to-paper on a new three year deal, in midweek despite interest from Ipswich Town, is now looking to kick-on with his Luton career and become a legend.
Talking in the local press about his ascension to that lofty position of being the longest serving player and then kicking on, Howells had this to say,
“It`s a bit weird but I`m the most capped player and I`m only 21 still – it`s crazy.”
“I`ve got to step up to the mark now.”
“I`m still learning and I take a lot from the older pros, but I`ve played a lot of games and I don`t think there are many at my age that have as many appearances.”
“When Luton offered me a new deal I was over the moon.”
“At Wembley (play-off final) I was playing for my contract. Us losing really hurt because I really thought it was our year.”
“From then I just had a bit of time off but all along I knew I was going to play for Luton. A three year deal at Luton Town is something you can`t turn down.”
It`s the things that dreams are made of Jake, now go on and become a legend!
