And there was I, after the glut of summer signings, thinking that was it, but possibly not.

Although Nathan Jones has already boosted his midfield contingent by adding Henri Lansbury and Allan Campbell to the squad and with Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu also signing a new contract, the gaffer has revealed he would like to bring in one more midfielder before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Nathan, as reported by Luton Today, is quoted as having remarked about the possibility of another addition to the squad,

“We would like to bring in another player just for pure strength but it’s difficult finding people that are better than what we’ve got.”

“It’s probably the only position where we might enhance it slightly, but we’ve got real good variation, with what we had last year, coupled with the new one that we’ve brought in and what we’ve got an eye on.

“We’ve actually been in for a few, so that’s all ongoing, but we’re in a decent place in terms of numbers and bodies.

“Anyone we bring in has to really be a first team player in terms of a starter as we don’t need numbers now.

“All we can do is add quality, that’s the only thing we can do.”

Some very intriguing words there from the gaffer and words that have gotten me thinking, just who could be the players he has an eye on?

Could they be established players, or could Nathan be waiting the okay from a Premier League club to loan an outstanding youngster, in the same mould as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall once those in the top echelon of English football have completed their business?

If that is the case, we may not see anybody else arrive until transfer deadline day, a day when, I believe, a couple of the current squad could be also moving to pastures new.

But what is your view on this revelation?

Have you any idea who Nathan could, if a deal can be concluded, be bringing to our neck of the woods?

Surely that comment rules out edun or does it? Must be ready to fight for a first team place. That sounds to me like it does. But I could be wrong. Like you I feel it will be a young prem player but he says that a number of players are being chased so let’s wait an see

he’s also ruled out signing Khanya Leshabela as Leicester City wanted too much for the youngster, but don’t discount Edun, he can play on the elft-side of midfield, could be an interesting couple of weeks.
