Those who frequent this site regularly may have noticed that a couple of the comments posted have revisited the past and mentioned former players.
Such posts have spawned the idea of regular visitors, or indeed occasional visitors if they wish, naming their best Luton Town XI from players they have had the good fortune to watch wearing a Hatters shirt.
As you can imagine there are a plethora of players that could be deemed good enough to be named in a best-ever XI.
The first Vital Luton member to rise to the challenge is Chris Winter who, openly admitted, it was a huge challenge to finalise a best-ever XI and that he could have named three.
However, after a lot of soul-searching, Chris came up with the following starting XI:
Goalkeeper
• Milija Aleksic
Defenders
• John Ryan
• Terry Branston
• Steve Foster
• James Justin
Midfield
• David Preece
• Bruce Rioch
• Alan Slough
• Kevin Nicholls
Forwards
• Malcolm MacDonald
• Mick Harford
Manager
• Alec Stock
In compiling his side, Chris decided on a 4-4-2 formation and admitted his eleven didn’t contain all his favourites but stated the eleven would make a fantastic team and, in all honesty, I find it hard to argue.
Hopefully, Chris’ selection will promote some debate but, here at Vital Luton Town we’d welcome your contribution to what we all hope will be an intriguing series.
Tomorrow, I’ll take the opportunity to reveal my all-time XI, if you wish to participate simply drop yours into the comment facility beneath this article, or any subsequent ‘Best-Ever XI’ articles and I’ll do the rest and turn it into an article.
