Rome Wasn`t Built in a Day!

I have to admit that travelling up to North Wales to see Luton take on Wrexham, I was a little fearful of the possible outcome.

I had it in my mind that following on from the dismal showing, on Tuesday, against Hyde, we`d get our backsides well and truly kicked.

But as it turned out, although we rode our luck at times, there was an inkling of a suggestion that John Still has done some major work on the training ground with our back four.

In fact, it looks as if Still is keen to follow that old adage about building a great team from a sound defence.

After the 0-0 draw, Still remarked about the resoluteness we showed and building on it, remarking,

“On the evidence of today, we looked like we can restrict the other team and do it constantly.”

“When we do it constantly we can start looking at what we can build with that.”

“That may come, with the greatest respect, with the change of some players.”

“But the foundation is to feel we can go anywhere and play anyone and not get beaten and that is what we have to get into the players.”

Now it remains to be seen if we can build on that defensive strength we showed at the Racecourse ground and start to develop other areas of our play, although as the famous saying goes – Rome wasn`t built in a day!
