Luton – Viewing One More Time

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve re-watched the coverage of our historic day at Wembley.

I’m sure I’m not the only supporter who has the urge to watch our triumph time and time again.

But has, anyone else, like me discovered something you’d not previously noticed during an earlier viewing.

Today, watching it yet again, I heard for the first time, the strains of Heroes by David Bowie, playing in the background as the celebrations began.

Now why I haven’t noticed it before I don’t know, especially as it would come close to making my Desert Island Discs selection, if I were fortunate enough to ever be chosen and indeed if the long running show is still being broadcast.

I think you’ll agree the words fitted the occasion perfectly, especially the “We can be Heroes” line.

However, while I’ve talked the appropriateness of the song up, I’m not sure “Just for One Day” fits the bill.

After all, in my eyes, everyone who was part of the events, on the pitch and off the pitch, will forever be classed as heroes in my book.

Therefore, perhaps the more apt line is “We can be heroes, for ever and ever” now that’s more like it!

But, if you are like me and have watched the action time and time again, what have you noticed that you missed on previous viewings?

Please feel free to enlighten us in the comment facility beneath this article.
