It is hard to imagine being Rob Edwards at the moment, the gaffer knew, despite the changes to the starting XI yesterday, it would be a hard season.

Rob’s a winner and although he, as we all did, knew this would be a hard season and that retaining our Premier League status, come next May, would be a wonderful achievement, it really is time that Rob, and the club as a whole, started to get a few breaks.

Following our defeat at Craven Cottage yesterday and talking to the BBC, Rob could only repeat the mantra about being clinical in front of goal in what is the most unforgiving league in Europe, remarking:

“We have had three really big chances, we have hit the woodwork with a free header, we have had a free header right at the death with Tom Lockyer and Amari’i’s chance was a very big one as well.”

Now If only two of those chances had been converted it would have been a completely different ball game.

But Rob also believed that Luton should have had a penalty, further adding:

“I also feel we should have had a penalty, Carlton Morris has been fouled when their player is not looking at the ball at the time when the ball is in play. Anywhere else on the pitch, and that is a foul.”

That has also been a long running conception I’ve held, a typcial example being shirt pulling. In the penalty area shirts are regularly more than pulled with nothing given but a simple tug of a shirt elsewhere on the pitch, results in a free kick and very often a yellow card.

Continuing though, Rob, quite rightly, offers us all hope for the future, concluding with:

“But, I have seen progression and a better performance, the lads are really with it. We fought diligently and were a real threat on the counter attack.

“We have created more chances than they have, but they put one over the line and we didn’t. That is credit to them, but we have to learn and keep improving. It will turn, no doubt, I believe in every one of those players and they have improved in every game.”

Keep the faith folks, that’s all we can ask, like Rob says, things will get better, starting with Wolverhampton Wanderers, this Saturday.
