Another game against top opposition and another narrow defeat, this time against Manchester City.

Although our Premier League status may be starting to look perilous, we should be thankful that there is no clamour for Rob Edwards to be replaced.

The gaffer continues to do a fantastic job, in difficult circumstances, and great heart can be taken from the fact we are pushing the top clubs so close.

They say scoring just before half-time is the best time to score, but I reckon all Elijah Adebayo’s goal did was fire Manchester City up after some wise words from Pep Guardiola, in the dressing room at half-time.

Following the narrow defeat Rob, as he is obliged to do, spoke to the media and had, as reported by the BBC the following to say:

“I think we can take confidence. We are playing well performing well. There’s more to our game I think we’ve shown that, difficult opposition as well.”

Indeed we can and indeed there was, once Ross Barkley got into the game his ability to hold onto the ball and open up defences with his exquisite passing became very prevalent.

Continuing, Rob added:

“I thought we were really brave, I thought the performance was excellent, without the ball really aggressive. Tried to not let them get their rhythm, get their game going. The goal was an excellent example of that.”

It was a goal that lit Kenilworth Road up, turning the stadium into a cacophony of noise, a good old fashioned far post header.

Sadly, the Hatters couldn’t hold on and suffered their eleventh defeat in sixteen games, prompting the boss to further add:

“Frustrating to be honest, especially when you go 1-0 up. Full credit to Manchester City, that’s what top teams do.”

They do, and it’ll take a decent side to stop Guardiola claiming yet another Premier League title, come next May.

Hi all, it’s a shame adebayo (who was superb by the way)was to honest in the 2nd half. He could have easily gone down after being caught in the penalty box. To his credit he stayed on his feet & tried to battle on. I wonder what grealish or foden would have done up the other end ??????

Very true Alan.Thats what being an honest player gets you nothing. But give me honesty over cheating every time.

Quite agree chris. Annoying that nakamba was booked for kicking the ball away, that’s 5 bookings & he now misses Saturday coming…..

I think it was just frustration and he forgot at least with longi if he’s fit enough we have a replacement like for like. Also I do wonder why berry who has more assists an better stats can’t get a game yet Clark gets on straight back from injury with poorer stats.

  • Alan says:

Not sure on that one chris…..
