It was one of those nights, a night where the emotion range went from one end of the scale to the other.
Everything looked to be going in Luton’s favour, a fantastic reception for Tom Lockyer, after his medical trauma, and a first half in which we took the chances that fell our way and went into the break leading AFC Bournemouth, 3-0.
But it seems that ‘Lady Luck’ left for home during the break, with the walls coming tumbling down in the second half in spectacular fashion.
At 3-0 up I, like many others, couldn’t see anything other than a win, I never dreamed that we’d be chasing a draw with our hosts scoring 4 goals without reply.
It was just unbelievable and only Luton, along with all their other achievements, would become the first Premier League side to collapse in such dramatic fashion.
The draw leaves the Hatters with just 1 point earned from the last 18 available, it doesn’t take a genius to point out the seriousness of such a run of form.
But, viewing social media the reactions are from a wide spectrum of the scale with some inferring that our Premier League dream is over and that our chances of staving off relegation have come unstuck thanks to a colossal injury list stripping the squad down to its bare bones.
Others are pointing out that we are still the masters of our own destiny and that we have 10 games to save our Premier League status.
Me, I’m firmly in the latter camp and wouldn’t like to have served in the trenches with any of the first group.
In times like these we need to stand together, we need to have the same grit the team will, undoubtedly, show in those last 10 fixtures, nobody from within the Hatters camp is going to throw the towel in.
We’ve faced adversity numerous times, including coming back from financial ruin on several occasions, we’ve climbed back into top-flight football from the utter despair of dropping into non-league football, courtesy of that draconian points deduction, and I’m sure the word adversity will be connected with the Hatters many times in the future, it’s in our DNA, its in our blood, it’s in the very fabric of our club to never write us off.
Kenilworth Road needs to be a cacophony of news on Saturday as we prepare to take on the side directly above us in the table, Nottingham Forest.
And as for those who are of the belie the ‘Fat Lady’ is getting ready to sing, take it from me, she hasn’t even cleared her throat yet and don’t bank on her having to do so!

Anyone understand management decision to take off a defender and put pelly on last night? Co’s I don’t.
A strange substitution. I think Rob needs some help. I checked on his support staff re the 1st team. I was surprised not to see a defence coach listed. Am I being unreasonable for assuming we would have someone in that role? Listening to match on 3 Counties we went from euphoria to despair in 45 minutes

I agree taking off a defender for Pelly to come on makes no sense to me either. There must be defenders in the development squad worth a chance.
Personally I’m of the belief (ironically for us) that we will need points deductions to survive this season. No complaint at any player, any staff or management, we are still fighting a monumental task proudly every week, but each match there is a little less steam and a slightly longer injury list.
If we get a second season then I think we will turn even more heads and win over many more neutrals with a settled and experienced squad built up.
despite the diappointment of lack of points, at least we are scoring goals. that goal that barkley scored was a beautifully worked goal, that any premier striker would be proud of. we have a massive hill to climb, so lets strap the boots on, and start climbing. supporting luton, you expect to fight against the odds, lets hope the odds swing in our favour. whatever happens, its been a pleasure to see what luton have been able to do. we have came so close against top teams, and scored lots of goals, against world class players. we need that grit and determination that has been on show in many of our games, and a little sprinkle of luck. Not the first time we’ve been in this position in my lifetime and got out of it. Players will be coming back, so no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater yet. No point complaining about what’s, ifs and maybes. Even Rob’s still learning. Everyone would have bitten their hands off 12 months ago to ne in the premier with a fighting chance of staying up!
People including pundits and our Manager keep saying that if we beat Forest we’ll go above them. Not unless it’s by 3 goals!
Forget that. Half pissed!
