Defeat is always a bitter pill to swallow, even more so when the expectation is that your side is going to bounce back from a heavy defeat the previous week.

Losing away to Manchester City was always going to be accepted, after all they are, in all probability, one of the best club teams in the world.

But, with the club fighting for its Premier League survival, losing so heavily at home to Brentford is a very bitter pill to swallow.

Last night, surfing the social media sites, it was plain to see how disappointed the Hatters support were, the heavy defeat knocking those hopes of survival.

Choosing to base an article on supporters feelings, I have selected a quartet that illustrate the despair currently being felt.

Firstly:

I’ll not argue with that point of view, it was as if everything that could go wrong did so, conspiring to make it one of the most miserable days of the season so far.

Secondly:

A fair point, especially when, previously, especially away from home, we’ve chastised the home support about leaving before the final whistle.

We’re you one of those that left early yesterday?

If so, why?

Thirdly:

Now that’s more like the Hatters support I know. We may have lost, we may have performed badly, but our season is far from over. Our fate is far from sealed, sure it is going to be hard to stay up, but until it is mathematically impossible to stay up, we should never accept the fate the pundits have predicted lies in store for us.

Fourthly:

Now that is a damn good point and one I don’t have the answer to.

Looking ahead, instead of having to face Wolves (a), Everton (h), West Ham (a) and Fulham (h), perhaps we might fare better if we were facing – Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Arsenal and Newcastle United!

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated, please feel free to leave your views in the comment facility beneath this article.

Our worst two performances in my opinion this season have both been against Brentford.

We go again Saturday, we don’t give in.

Never too high, never too low.

To walk out before the final whistle is a disgrace & just proof of being mere glory hunters. Yesterda, without doubt, for what every reason was poor. But I, like many others, have seen much worse, but I’ve never walked out on a game early…..

Quite right Alan, we have seen much worse in our time.I put it down as a loss to our bogey team they have the hex on us we never do or play well against them no matter what league it is.

The comments echo those of many fans of teams opposing Brentford, simply by under estimating the quality of any Brentford team. Considering so many Brentford platers have been missing for large parts of the season it is remarkable how well Brentford have performed this season. The team is reassembling now, but still massive holes to plug before the Bees really start to fire up again.
Like it or not Brentford are a top 10 team with a full squad on the pitch, for example who was the only Premier League team to do the double over Manchester City last season. Yes, you guessed it – Brentford.
Chin uo and go and get the points to finish better and stay in the PL.

i still have to pinch myself, and realise that we are playing premier league football, one of the best leagues in the world. don’t ever forget the journey ,and the fantastic games that we witnessed. the brilliant players we have forged into a never say die team, only to be ravaged by unbelievable injuries that nobody would have believed possible. where ever we end up next season, i am sure the supporters will be there. its not good to see supporters leaving early, but if they want to drown there sorrows early, they pay there money ,its there choice. hope to see some fit players, playing good football.
