Luton Town Must Ride The Storm

If you look at the form charts, the Hatters recent form makes you wince.

Those early season thoughts about making the play-offs have been severely dented by the Hatters managing to take just 1 point from the last 12 available, courtesy of losses against Stoke City, Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City and a goalless draw against Nottingham Forest.

Sadly, it is a run of form that has already seen the future of Nathan Jones questioned with the following social media comment illustrating the point perfectly:

I sincerely hope that such drastic action isn’t in the thoughts of many other supporters.

But, with winter now upon us and the first snowfall catching us all by surprise, when it comes to Luton’s form it could be a case of it getting worse before it gets better.

Looking at our next three fixtures:

• Blackpool (a)
• Fulham (h)
• Reading (a)

It is clear we are not in for an easy ride, with two of the sides above us.

But, then again, games against the likes of Blackpool and Fulham are the kind of games where Luton could rise to the occasion and spring a surprise, but on the back of our recent form I have to say it would be one hell of a surprise.

After our trip to Berkshire, the fixtures don’t get any easier with games against:

• Bristol City (h)
• Swansea (a)

to follow.

I can’t help but feel that Nathan must select the strongest side he can and not cop and change as much as he has done recently, we need an XI that can grow into a unit, a bonded XI, an XI that can settle into a pattern of play, our own pattern, not a pattern that is designed to blunt the opposition.

It’s time for the opposition to worry about us not the other way around!

Morning mh, As you will have seen by the posts on here many of us are sick of njs platitudes after dismal performances by the players an his baffling team selection time after time. He has to start being radical an not led by his tenet an dogma. Now if that means a playing youngsters or putting in old heads Jerome then so be it in midfield Campbell an Thorpe who will run all day an give us bite shea plays well an gets dropped. It’s no longer good enough. We accept defeat by a better team but not laying down an rolling over week after week. I was one who was happy to give nj a chance on his return but now I’m losing patience with him an his excuses really I’m still learning my trade doesn’t wash anymore.

Can’t believe people calling for NJs head already……

i hope this blip we are going through at the moment is soon remedied and forgotten. as i said before,i will be happy to miss relegation. the players we have are good championship players, and need to step up. lets try passing the ball forward like we can,and very sucessfully .every body gets pissed off sometimes, thats the beauty of being a supporter? well i think it is? stay positive. COYH.

  • Matthew says:

Over the last six games we’re 22nd in table. Enough said.

  • Alan says:

Jimbo & mh your right let’s stay positive…obviously we all hate to lose, but let’s back nj & the staff, they are working their socks off to turn this form around, believe me… i know we have all had our say on team selection, but NJ could have easily blamed the players after such a lacklustre performance, but he blamed himself, rightly so….let’s get a positive result on Saturday then upset Fulhams promotion push….coyh…

Hi Alan, while he an the staff keep trying his tenet an dogmatic approach aren’t working he has to try something else the players need to take a look at themselves as well. Teams have got us worked out an something else needs to be tried why not give the youngsters a chance or if nessersary change our style just using 2 or 3 styles isn’t working.

  • Alan says:

That’s why they were training yesterday followed by a full squad meeting. Like I said they are working on sorting this out. No need to panic yet for God sake. 5 games done make a season you know that….

    • Chris winter says:

Yes Alan 5 games don’t make a season. But he seems bent on playing to a system that is no longer working for us an the players are not performing that’s my problem. I know you are employed now by the club and that’s why you must defend them. But we are letting off steam an our frustration on here.

      • Alan says:

I get the letting off steam bit chris. I was just giving a little insight as to the fact the coaching were as angry as the fans after Saturday….also as a supporter 1st, in my opinion, I think its is atrocious that people are calling for the managers head. That’s the sort of actions of the big money clubs regarding a dip in form. I’m sure beginning of the season most fans were saying let’s make sure stay in this league so therefore if, as Simon says, there are 3 teams worse than us, we will stay up. A bit pedantic I know but, that’s me letting of steam….lol….

        • Chris winter says:

OK mate no problem we all want the same thing really 😊just want to see improvement on performance an nj at least trying something different.

  • simon says:

NJ needs to accept that players like Rea and Hylton are not Championship players. Why play them when you have Jerome, Campbell and Lansbury on the bench? We need a steady 11 and only change when injuries and suspensions dictate! NJ also needs to stop harping on about budget and that we’re punching above our weight. What message is this giving to the players? Our saving grace is that there are 3 clubs worse than us!

  • Adrew says:

Hi all , I can’t understand why some people are calling for NJ to go do they forget where we when he came back he has a lot of credit in the bank for me. Yes I agree change some players but I still think it’s a team getting to know each other let’s just keep middle of the league this season bring some of the young players in as a learning curve and kick on next season.
