With the new 2023/2024 season just a matter of weeks away, Luton Town continues to get mentioned in engaging transfer tittle-tattle.

Yesterday, the Hatters were linked, by several sources, including – Football League World – with the young Aston Villa striker, Keinan Davis.

Davis, still just 25-years-of-age, is currently on the books of Aston Villa but has failed to secure a first team place.

In recent seasons, Davis has spent loan periods with Nottingham Forest and, last season, with our near-neighbours, Watford.

During his loan periods he has not been the most prolific of scorers, at Nottingham Forest he scored 5 goals in 15 games and at Watford he netted 7 times in 34 games.

But his game is not just about goals, his powerful physique enables him to hold the ball up well, bringing his team-mates into play and he could be, on the positive side, a decent squad member, boosting our attacking quota.

However, on a negative note, although after the successful deal with Aston Villa involving Marvelous Nakamba, the Midlands based club, according to our referenced source, want anywhere between £4-7 million for the striker.

To me, that is, to put it mildly, more than a tad too much for a squad player.

But is that a view you concur with, or would you beg to disagree?

To much for me as well. Also respected commentators say he’s only upper championship level so why bother if he is only a Morris clone an offers nothing different to the team.

We need a midfield player to dictate the game and score goals that’s some thing we lack with the midfield players we have another luke berry but someone we are going to play on a regular amount of time as we need goals from all over the pitch as I feel the forwards are going to find a lot hard this season to score . Coyh

you have to trust the recruitment team. remember the doubt regarding lockyer, bell, etc. they turned out to be fantastic. with a limited budget , don’t expect to much. COYH.

If the price is $4.0 million then maybe yes, Chris has a point, however a capable striker whom Mick Hartford might be able to improve. Then there is a fresh pair of legs from the bench so could be a bargain all depends on the price. The Price is Right ! ?

All I keep hearing is negotiating ongoing like with begovic an we lost him !!! Alan so if wages are the problem I fear we’ll lose again.

If it’s Heaton his age worries me, 37 is beyond experienced and stinks of veteran lol

Heaton is still awaiting talks with den Haag who has already refused to let him leave yet mh. So make of that what you will 😁😁 doesn’t leave many in the frame does it.

I reckon we will start with Shea and hope to bring in someone before the transfer window shuts at the end of August

          • Chris winter says:

Mh aren’t you forgetting the other keeper we were interested in lol

          • Mad Hatter says:

There’s been so many I’ve lost track Chris 🙂

  • Chris winter says:

Seems Luton are seeking at least 4 young strikers now add arsenal Charlie patoni now. We must be desperate if a striker comes before a keeper!!!!! 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
