Luton Town Confirm Winger Has Left The Club For Pastures New

Only a matter of days ago, here at Vital Luton Town, we ran article relating to our forward/winger Carlos Mendes Gomes.

The article – winger-set-for-north-west-return – covered the ongoing speculation that Carlos was set to end his Kenilworth Road career with a move to the League One club, Bolton Wanderers.

Late yesterday, the rumour became fact with the Official Site, confirming Carlos had put pen-to-paper on a deal with the Trotters.

Once again, when it comes to money, the words ‘undisclosed fee’ are mentioned.

Carlos leaves the Hatters after making just 14 appearances, since signing from Morecambe back in 2021, and having spent last season on loan with Fleetwood Town.

It could be argued that Carlos was never given a fair chance by the Hatters but, then again, the counter argument could be that, once with the club, it was realised that he wasn’t quite good enough for a Championship club, let alone a club that defied the odds and, subsequently, climbed into the Premier League.

Naturally, the departing player goes with the best wishes of the support, as the following social media posts show:

Does that last post make a true statement, for Carlos did we, as a club, grow faster than expected?

Your thoughts on the above article, in our comment facility, would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately he was not good enough never rated him to be honest I’m sure he will do well in league one Bolton are a big club one that I fancy to get promoted this season he could be the one to help them

Morning mh, I don’t think it comes as a surprise that gomes left or that he will be followed by others that have been brought under our get youth in policy let’s be honest here you an I said when gomes signed we had our doubt’s I have nothing against him personally or any of the other boys brought in. There may be some truth in the comments that the club has grown to quickly for them.but we supposedly brought them for a future at the club or to profit from them. That’s not happened with gomes I know that for a fact nor do I see us making much from the others.the sad fact is the policy is a busted flush. As is the youth system apart from a possibility that mcjannet may in the future yield a good profit an Johnson may yet break into the first team the system till we get cat 2 status is failing management big ups in the past then dumping young boys needs to change.rob seems keener on youth but let’s see what happens but at this time I see no profit in our system.Lets be honest apart from adebayo none have proved good enough.

I remember reading a quote from NJ saying that Mendes was very much a nice family guy. I cannot help wondering if he never really settled down south. He excelled at Morecambe and Fleetwood, and is now at Bolton, three towns here in the north west. Bolton has had a bad few years but they have a prem standard stadium and a track record at the top . Hopefully he flourishes there, I wanted him to succeed at Luton but that’s life.

I know things have not worked out as regards mendes and a few of the other players but if you get the council changing it’s mind about the land for the dome so plans have to change with this but if you don’t try and get players that are young you dont know its not going to work . Coyh

Andrew all have had time to progress they are all getting on to 23 to 24 an none have been able to progress so we sell as they have no cat 2 group to join but we are unlikely to profit from them either that does not make economic sense to continually do that. Apart from Johnson no one has made it since Justin that is a fact years of stagnation in youth policy because of no longer having kids from Ireland Scotland Wales or further afield kids sold at 9 an12 the da Silvas bakinson mcjannet the list goes on . Sorry but it’s a busted flush at this time.

looks like the youth system shake up in personnel is a positive step towards cat 2 . we just need the facilities to match. we have a lot going on at the moment, but i am sure that irons are in the fire.like chris i hate seeing young players drift in and out at luton.always hoping that one of our young players get a chance.COYH.
