Luton Town – Honours Shared In 8-Goal Thriller At St James Park

I never in my wildest dreams could have predicted the events that occurred at St James Park yesterday afternoon.

Okay, in my pre-match amble I harked on about continuing the momentum of the fine 4-0 win against Brighton and Hove Albion, in midweek, hoping we could, as a minimum, get a draw, but 4-4, that’s almost in the realms of fantasy football!

Plus, the manner in which the game unfolded, with the Hatters coming back from 1-0 and 2-1 down, to lead 4-2, was the things dream are made of.

But, I should add that for the game to end 4-4, I was, like a few others, disappointed we couldn’t hang on to take alll the three points available.

However, in our inaugral season in the Premier League, to take 4 points, from the 6 available, against a Newcastle club who were playing Champions League football, earlier this season, is a formidable achievement, as is scoring a total of 8 goals, in two games against the likes of Brighton and Newcastle, is no mean feat.

The result, combined with the other games played yesterday, have lifted the Hatters to a lofty 16th in the table.

But, like I said after the Brighton result, it’ll mean nothing if we can’t keep this fine run of form going when relegation threatened, Sheffield United, pitch up at Kenilworth Road next Saturday.

Ater the game yesterday, that forthcoming fixture has already been labelled as a ‘Cup Final’ slightly different technology to the familiar old term, six-pointer!

COYH, don’t fluff those lines next Saturday!

So after Saturday what can we expect in our next game against Sheffield utd on Saturday.Well I for one fear it will be an ugly encounter wilder has said he won’t come an park the bus, believe that if you like. I expect them to slow the game down at every opportunity throw ins goal kicks you name it. I think we will get a dog fight game so any type of win will do for me. But what do I know? Could we blow them away as well. We’ll see.
