Luton Town – Frustrated And Disappointed But Still In The Hat For The Fourth Round Draw

I’m probably not the only Luton Town supporter who feels a tad disappointed this morning.

Hopes were high that the Hatters, following thei fine result form, would brush aside the challenge of the League One side and claim a place in the 4th round of the FA Cup, at the first attempt.

But it wasn’t to be, the Trotters came to Kenilworth Road, frustrated Luton Town and held on for a creditable draw, resulting in a replay, in the north west at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, a week on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, studying our recent FA Cup record, it shouldn’t have come as too much of a surprise with the statistics showing that in the previous six, home, FA Cup ties against opposition from a lower league side, Luton Town have won just two and lost the other four.

Chances did come our way, ater a somewhat lethargic first-half, with Alfie Doughty being the player most likely to break the deadlock, with a shot that hit the post and an incident where it looked to be a clear penalty after he was fouled in the area, but the officials and VAR chose to beg to differ, some you win, some you lose.

Although there were fears Rob Edwards might field a weakened side, that wasn’t the case with the Hatters gaffer giving the best domestic cup compeition in the world, the respect it deserves.

Perhaps credit should be given to Bolton Wanderers, a side who look destined to achieve promotion this season, from League One, who came to Kenilworth Road and did a competent job on Luton Town.

Sadly, the 0-0 draw means a slight reshuffle of our forthcoming fixtures with our trip to Turf Moor being rescheduled for this Friday evening, instead of a week Monday, with the 3rd round FA Cup replay, against Bolton Wanderers set to take place a week on Tuesday.

Anyone fancy a long weekend in the north-west?

Not surprised Rob had a go at half time.i felt the team expected an easy game an just had to turn up that’s not how the cup works. Remember Norwich v Luton a few years ago !!!!. Now it will take a massive effort to get to the next round something we don’t need.

Also just heard we are negotiating for a player not the equidorian and that he could be signed by end of next week.
