Hard decisions have to be taken, otherwise we could be in trouble.
In a recent article – consistency-is-the-key-for-luton-town-as-the-figures-prove.
I covered the fact that consistency is, currently, the key to Luton’s continued success.
However, whilst I am delighted that the Hatters, ahead of the trip to Rotherham, sit in ninth position in the table, there is one glowing problem that I was made aware of by one of the regular visitors to Vital Luton Town, Chris Winter.
Chris, quite rightly, pointed out that in the 10 games we have played so far in the Championship, the Hatters have only managed to score EIGHT goals.
When it comes to scoring goals, Collins seems to be the only real scorer we have.
When it comes to the likes of Hylton and Lua Lua, questions are still being asked as to whether they are Championship quality.
Cornick, while capable of scoring, can be erratic and has been troubled by injuries this season.
Another possible source of goals, Lee, is currently being used in a deeper position while Nombe has yet to be given a chance to show he is ready to lead the line.
Which begs me to ask a couple of questions.
1 – How would we cope if Collins were to pick up an injury?
And
2 – When the January transfer window comes, do Luton need to rectify a situation they should have attended to in the summer transfer window by buying (or loaning in) another striker?
I believe that when a Luton without Collins would struggle but when it comes to acquiring another striker, who should Luton go for?
Could we possibly look just down the M1 and enquire about Andre Gray?
Who would you like to see come to Kenilworth Road?

Hi all….gray from scum, that would raise a few eyebrows….personally I think we should have gone for Marriott in the last window…he def knows where the goal is….
Marriott would have been a decent buy, anyone know how much Brentford paid Posh for Toney?
hi MH, Toney cost Brentford roughly £5m up front possibly rising to 10m with add-ons and Peterborough previously sold Marriott to Derby for 2.5m which was about 2m more than they paid us for him a year after buying him but we did have a healthy sell-on % from this though.
thanks Danny, he was out of our price range then!
I think there’s zero chance of signing Gray on loan, agent Andre is currently taking the trophyless wonders for 80k a week whilst re-paying them with whopping 14 goals scored over a 3+ yrs period, nice work AG 🙂
cost will be the biggest obstacle for any signing, especially with the pandemic still affecting finances
Hi all, it may be a bit radical but personally I would go for stve fletcher at Stoke or Paul Gallagher of Preston both have massive championship experience an would be a good tide over for the season
Hi chris, good choices, but dont either club would be willing to let them go..
Hi Alan, your probably right but that’s the type of player we need and as you’ve put forward yourself Chris Martin is another
good shout but he’s getting on a bit
I think Marcus Harness from Portsmouth would be a great signing.
Might be a winger but has created a lot of goals plus scored 5. I belive he is ready to take the step up to championship too.
Hi trondheim, interesting choice but we already have to many midfielders in our squad an most of us feel we need an out an out goal scorer
Scored a hattrick as a number 10! So I think he is a promising option
Hi trondheim, if that’s the case then yes he could be an option
