Luton Town Charged By The Football Association

For me, it wasn’t a case of if it would happen but when!

In fact, I’m surprised it has taken so long for the Football Association to take action.

In the modern game, any kind of melee that takes place that involves a group of players is frowned upon by officialdom.

Therefore, when, following the final whistle, several Luton Town and Swansea City players clashed, resulting in the referee showing a red card to Swansea’s Jordan Garrick for the most cowardly of punches, a fist was thrown from outside the warring pack, you just knew that both clubs would be in hot water.

The actual charge levelled at the clubs is the usual:

‘A failure to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion’

However, it remains to be seen what the punishment is that is dished out.

Usually, it is a monetary punishment but with Wigan Athletic going into administration yesterday (Wednesday), might the FA be a little wary of a financial punishment causing a club unnecessary hardship?

Perhaps, a warning about future conduct might just suffice in this case.
