Luton Town Are On The March Again

Three games into Rob Edwards tenure as the Hatters manager, I’m starting to think we may be going places.

After starting with an unfortunate loss at Middlesbrough, courtesy of a stoppage time goal, Edwards Luton have bounced back with wins against two good sides, Norwich City (h) and Queens Park Rangers (a).

The latter of those two performances, at Loftus Road, saw the Hatters carve out a convincing 3-0 win. much to the delight of the travelling support.

I know it is too early to predict great things, I’ve always been a little cautious when it comes to something like that, but the manner in which Edwards has got the team playing and the camaraderie they are showing augers well for the future.

The long ball style, adopted by Nathan Jones, has ben replaced by an eagerness to play the ball through midfield and as quickly as we can, pushing people but being resolute in defence, something Edwards spoke about in his post-match interview with The BBC

“I don’t think we were at our best. I still want more.

“But we were ruthless at one end and defended like warriors when we had to – which these lads do really well and enjoy doing.

“Once we got the first goal we just quietened everyone a little bit and then were able to manage it fairly well. The timing of the second goal was great and that allowed us to be solid and try to pick them off.

“We probably didn’t have that snap and that bite we had against Norwich, but full credit because they really put a shift in.”

With 6 points taken out of the last 9 available, Luton are adrift of a play-off place on just goal difference, but we have a game in hand (Millwall).

Next up is a difficult trip to Yorkshire, to take on Huddersfield, but the way the lads are playing, I wouldn’t rule out a third win on the bounce, would you?

No mh I wouldn’t bank on us not winning that one. But like you I’m still not counting my chickens. Also as regards defenders like I’ve recommended to jimbo maybe as our two best defenders last night were lockyer an Morris maybe Rob should play Morris with lockyer all the time. I seem to remember a certain young luton player doing both jobs an he had a good career. 😉😉 Gary was his name.

Playing devil’s advocate… But are we managing discipline right under Edwards? Could see Bells second yellow a mile off but kept him on, same with Osho and last night was just waiting for second yellow for Clarke (Potts off injured but same there) to make it three times in a row.
With shortage in defensive personnel we don’t need suspensions adding to woes later in season.
A few bodies in defence in Jan so we can manage games wouldn’t hurt…
Everything else under Edwards brilliant and love how we have started under him!

To be fair Steve the ref was shite. An the first booking when the qpr fell over the ball with nobody near him was one of dozens of unfathomable decisions he made.

hoping for another good performance at huddersfield. just looking at the table, its crazy how close it still is. just takes a few good results, and you will be back in the mix again. getting annoyed at referee’s mistakes. it must be their ego’s. COYH.
