Luton – Surely The Tide Must Turn Soon For Former Hatters Gaffer

With the Hatters FA Cup tie, against Wigan Athletic, not kicking off until 17:30, it gives us the perfect opportunity to see how the majority of the other ties finish.

One tie will certainly be on my radar with Nathan Jones taking his beleaguered Southampton side, to Selhurst Park, to take on Crystal Palace in an all Premier League tie.

Since vacating the Kenilworth Road hot seat, to take the Southampton job, Nathan has endured a nightmare start, losing his first four Premier League games, with a record that reads:

– Played – 4
– Won – 0
– Drawn – 0
– Lost – 4
– Goals Scored – 3
– Goals Conceded – 9

Nathan’s only success has been a 2-1 win against Lincoln City, in the EFL Cup but it doesn’t get any easier after the Crystal Palace game, with an EFL tie against Manchester City and then a trip to Goodison Park to take on Everton to follow.

Already there are mutterings, from the Southampton support, inferring Nathan is not the man for the job with the post below typical of the responses after the latest crushing defeat:

Nathan must be feeling the pressure, the Premier League is a pressure cooker compared to the EFL Championship and, looking in from afar, Nathan does appear to have inherited a squad that could, well be, headed for relegation anyway.

But, although he’s left us twice now, I hope things start to turnaround for our old gaffer, perhaps starting tomorrow at Selhurst Park.

If so, could we possibly be drawn against Southampton in round 4?

While I wasn’t njs supporter in his second spell. I’m certain he told the owners of Southampton he may not be able to save them. The club was in a mess an needs sorting out. No striker of note no cohesion. Plus unrealistic expectations from supporters blind to the problem. So I expect the owners to support him and give him the time needed to do it. Yes I know the pressure to stay in the prem but they have struggled year on year to survive. Good luck to him

Although he is an excellent manager, the move to Southampton was a silly move. Unfortunately his ego got in the way of common sense. Perhaps he is Premiership material but not there with that group of players.

Leaving us twice mid season is disgusting. I’d not want judas jones back again and love his soton misery.
