Okay, it may have come a round late with me brazenly hoping for a tie against Southampton, in the 4th round, but everything comes to those who wait, a bit similar to the meek shall inherit the earth.
For those who may have missed my desire – the-all-important-draw-is-this-afternoon-dont-miss-it
“Who do you fancy drawing?
“Southampton, home or away, anyone?”
With several big-name Premier League clubs out of the competition, I knew the stars were aligned as soon as the Southampton ball came out of the bag, I didn’t need to scream at the TV, I just had this gut feeling ball #6 was coming out, and so it did.
Ahead of the draw, while talking to the media, Rob Edwards, as reported by Luton Today wanted a sexy tie, does it come any sexier than the chance to take on the manager who you succeeded and who quit the Hatters for a second time.
I think not!
Naturally, social media was alive following the draw, with the pairing grasping the imagination of the Luton support:
Brilliant…even more incentive to beat Grimsby now.

I see what you’ve done there Dave, clever stuff, but don’t give up the day job.
But, as many posters have pointed out, there is a huge obstacle in our way before thousands of us can descend on the south coast, the small matter of that replay against Grimsby Town, at Blundell Park, and the potential of a huge slip on a banana skin:
This stinks of 2-0 Grimsby🤣🤣
— Dewar (@CalumBright_) January 30, 2023
Do not choke at Grimsby!
— Gary McEvoy (@LutonBhoy) January 30, 2023
We can all pray, I’m definitely popping into the local church to have a word with him upstairs, we can’t let this wonderful opportunity slip away, surely our superb away form will see us through up on the freezing Lincolnshire coast.
But, returning to my description of knowing our ball was to follow Southampton’s out of the bag, other posters have commented:
You couldn’t write it

It had to be …..

Yes, it did have to be, because things like this are written in the stars, they just have to happen, sorry Grimsby Town, but we are a club on a mission.
