Luton Support Uneasy About Latest Performance

If we are to be brutally honest the 2022/2023 EFL Championship season hasn’t exactly started as we’d all hoped.

Three games into the forty-six-game campaign and the Hatters have yet to register a win, drawing two and losing one.

Throw into the mix the fact that after significantly bolstering our strike force, we’ve only scored once, then these could, quite easily be described as worrying times, especially with the Hatters sat in 20th place.

It’s no wonder that the social media thoughts of Luton fans are a little negative!

Below are just a few that show how disappointed the Hatters support are:

It wasn’t the best of fare served up but, I wonder, would those negative vibes have subsided if those efforts from Woodrow and Adebayo had gone in?

Continuing, one cheeky punter asked:

No chance, footy is like a marriage, for better or worse and all that criteria!

But, returning to the game in general, it’s worth pointing out as this punter points out:

Now that is hard to accept, especially when you consider sometimes, we can have less than ten shots and walk away with three points.

But I’m not ging to be too critical of the team, the weather was cripplingly hot, and it should remember, as pointed out below:

It just remains to be seen how long it’ll take, not too long, I hope.

Morning mh, As I said in a previous post 3 games in an it’s started look at forest last season. Let’s wait till 15 games played. Then be worried. Like Alan an jimbo though my concern is the forward line. Maybe nj needs a rethink as Alan has suggested or putting in a different forward line until the likes of adebayo an Morris show some form.

It was a terrible performance sure enough, after the goal anyway.

Bell was rubbish and made 2 errors in the space of 10 seconds that directly conceded the goal. Jones has to take the criticism for keeping him on. Especially when he went to a 4-4-2.

Morris looks like Collo with a bit more skill. As we saw with Collo, if you don’t give him the ball precisely as he needs, he won’t score. And yes Adebayo is out of form. Probably a little unfit still.

Cornick might have had something tighten up on Friday I guess. But what yesterday showed is without him and Fred, we lack any real pace now. That is what I’d have prioritised this summer. Apart from Thorpe there was no difference on the bench either.

But ultimately, this is a new team. It will take time to gel. We might need to remember we’re only 3 seasons back at this level and anything above relegation is great. I feel it could be a long year and 16th would be wonderful. I don’t expect a win till September. But, the squad will be better for it next year and we could challenge again then. We’ll probably get some money for Adebayo in Jan or next summer to balance the books from all the signings this summer. And they squad will have had a full year to gel. Add a couple more pacey players and tweak the style again and we should be quids in then.

Jim both perriera an gomes have pace an trickery as well but njs obstinacy is now affecting results. As Alan has suggested a change of formation an dropping the favourites may be the shock some of them need. But don’t hold your breath with nj in charge.

Gomes was injured for yesterday though. So that leaves Dom. 4 proper quicks in a squad of 30ish isn’t enough in the championship.

NJ will figure things out though. Every year as we’ve risen from non-league, we’ve changed styles. We haven’t yet this season. But we will do because we have to keep evolving. It’ll just take time. And without pace, it’s going to be harder.

We just need to keep a sense of perspective and not panic. As long as we’re financially sustainable, the club will continue to exist and thrive. And then there will be seasons when everything just clicks. I just don’t expect it to really click this year.

I have trouble getting my head round all the Woodrow/ Morris hype. They were that good at Barnsley that they got relegated. If you score enough goals you win games. If you win games you don’t get relegated. These two haven’t proved themselves to me yet.

3 Games in 2 points on the board signs are not good this season could be difficult i fear a relgation scrap could be on the cards
