Luton Support Flummoxed Over Hatters Failings

Was it a case of a point gained or a case of two points lost, I’ll leave you to decide.

On a positive front, the Hatters showed resilience against Huddersfield Town, last night, coming from behind twice to eventually lead but then, on the negative side, being pegged back enabling the visitors to leave with a share of the spoils.

But while we may bemoan the fact the game ended up as a draw, we should take confidence that the Hatters extended their unbeaten run to four games and have taken eight points out of the last twelve available.

While the first half was a thrilling spectacle, the second didn’t, in my opinion, live up to expectations, something someone else pointed out on social media:

But digging deeper, our inability to take all three points came down to our inability to adequately defend set pieces, something else those who frequent social media picked up upon:

Something affected by injuries but, nevertheless, something that probably needs working on at the training ground.

It’s never a smooth ride being a Hatter and the final social media tells it’s own story:

Indeed, they do, but would you have it any other way?

Next up are West Bromwich Albion (a), on Saturday, can we extend that unbeaten run to five games?

Morning mh, injuries lead to 2 kids on the bench an 2 recovery from injury players on bench. Both having little game time back. You can’t blame them for being rusty. It’s the championship you have to be on it from the start. It was disappointing to let it slip and our home form leaves a lot to be desired. But it’s where we finish not start. It’s a marathon not a sprint.

Total agreement chris. Good to see Adebayo beginning to look like the player he was last season. I like ethan, just wish he was more dominant in his 6 yard box. Having said that it seems modern day keepers don’t seem to boss that area anymore. Not blaming him but, 2 goals from corners inside the 6 yard box is annoying…..Still positives tho…

Hi Alan, see adebayo has admitted to personal issues affecting his form. Good to see there was a reason for his poor form. An his honesty now let’s hope the fans get off his back as well.

  • Alan says:

Yeah, fair play to the lad. Real supporters would realise something wasn’t right. Hopefully now he can kick on again….

Close season sImply invested heavily in attacking options and not enough in defence. Cauley Woodrow one signing too many and who agreed with the vision that Potts can somehow cover the gap left by the departures of Kal Naismith and Peter Kioso? Shifting Bree into a back 3 meant we lost some creativity and Pelly switch didn’t work, his usual ball watching let Hudds grab the equaliser. 2 points missed.

  • Alan says:

Everyone talks about not signing a defender, it wasn’t for the want of trying…..you can’t always get what you want…I know 2 that we’re spoken to. I’m sure Chris knows of this to.

Hi Alan you are quite correct that we were rejected by 2 clubs approached for players an I was told 3 wouldn’t agree terms. That’s without the free agents available. An as for to many forwards the board was prepared to back another defender as well if he could have been found. That’s not the clubs fault is it now.

  • Alan says:

Exactly m8. People seem to think it’s easy….if only aye

just came back from a fortnight in tenerife, and bless my soul, it looks like my old mate is back in the team. did’nt sound like he performed very well. teachers pet??????. COYH

  • Alan says:

3 corners lead to 3 goals. Yes he was at fault for the third, but not even on the pitch for the first 2. Its a team game….welcome back, you have been sorely missed…

  • jimbo says:

to be fair lets give him a chance. give someone enough rope etc..was realy suprised to see him in the team, but its n.j.’s decision, he knows best?. on wards and upwards.good to see elijah up and running.COYH.

  • Chris winter says:

Jimbo what you probably have missed is that due to injuries we had an 18 an 19 Yr old on the bench in petit and Nelson. An doughty an pelly who both had less than 2 full games in u23 games so we had little choice. They are nowhere near fit enough to be considered really but needs must on the night. As we an you have said let’s cut these guys some slack for now. They need games before they are ready for the championship games. And a run in the team to get up to speed. Welcome back jimbo
