Luton – Beside The Seaside

As a man of leisure, I must admit that I spend too much of my time watching the TV, especially those quiz programmes broadcast in the early evening.

But, just recently, I’ve been tuning into the Channel 5 programme – “Bargain Loving Brits In The Sun”

However, it’s not because I find the quality of the programme makes it unmissable, it’s because there is something in it that never fails to intrigue me.

Based in Spain, I can’t help but notice that, almost every episode, there are men, of all ages, strolling around in football shirts representing clubs in all the four leagues.

Now, that got me thinking!

When it comes to holidaying abroad, or indeed here in the UK, do you wear any merchandise representing the Hatters?

I’d certainly intrigued be intrigued to hear, if you do, what items you parade around in.

Morning mh, when I was coaching a Sunday league team at the end of the season we went to Bulgaria. The manager an I an a number of players went to see Black Sea varna play plobdiv wearing luton Chelsea arsenal and mun utd shirts. An found ourselves with varnas ultras in their end. They went mad for us coming to support them. And all they wanted was to swop shirts with us. Now ours cost us 30 to 40 quid. But theirs were cheap an obvious local made. But we happily swapped shirts. At half time you had to walk out of the stadium to a kiosk selling beer 4 of us brought 30 litre bottles of beer for £10 for all the guys we had a ball. Fun days an so cheap a quality litre bottle of vodka was 75p 😁😁

I do find our lot in every corner of the world though, abundant in Dubai and even as far as Philippines….

In spring I’m often seen on the ski slopes of the French Alps in one of my many LTFC shirts, which usually leads to interesting multi-national conversations about football whilst I spread the word on Luton.
