Luton Sign Out Of Contract Defender

I have emerged from another round of 5×12 hour shifts drained but raring to pick up from where I left off, here on Vital Luton Town.

So, what has happened since I last put pen-to-paper?

Well, apart from the dreary international break, it appears the Hatters have added another centre-back to their squad.

The news source, The 72 are reporting that after some lengthy discussions, Luton Town have agreed on terms with Gabriel Osho.

Osho, a free agent after being released by reading in the summer, has spent since then weighing up his options before finally deciding Kenilworth Road was the place for him.

But what do we know about the 22-year-old?

During his career, he has made just 33 appearances after coming through the ranks at Reading but has only made 10 appearances for the Berkshire club.

Aside from making limited appearances for Reading, the defender has spent time out on loan at several clubs – Maidenhead United, Aldershot Town, Bristol Rovers and Yeovil Town.

It appears he could be a rough diamond ready to be polished by the Hatters coaching staff.

Now whether he can become a regular starter of just a useful squad member remains to be seen but it would be rude not to welcome Gabriel to Luton Town and wish him all the best during his Hatters career.

Hi mh, I would imagine that he’s been signed to go into the development squad we appear to be putting together with next season in mind alongside the 3youg lads we’ve signed an maybe nombe. That would be my guess anyway. We need a core of players anyway for under 23 games. We can’t just rely on youth players.

Hi MH, Osho played against us in the 0-5 game last season and looked a quality player and would be a decent addition should he actually sign. He turned down the offer of a long term deal at Reading as he didn’t get the assurances he wanted over first team opportunities. With that in mind and him being 23 at the start of next season i’d say he’ll more likely be part of the first team squad rather than joining the other younger recent signings in U23 League next season.

Hi Danny, you maybe right in what you said. I didn’t think he was quite that old. But with 4 Centre half’s on the squad. Unless we are considering selling one (cranie)? Or letting him go. Where would he get games. That’s why I assumed he was for the devolpment team

Hi Chris, i’m purely speculating like yourself about this potential signing. Worth noting that NJ recently said he was looking to start clipping the average age of the squad so with Cranie at 34 perhaps he’s looking at bringing in Osho as a younger more mobile replacement who can also play centre half & right back.

Hi all, so it’s finally been announced he’s joined us. It will be interesting to see how he will be used
