Luton – Should We Tell Them?

Image for Luton – Should We Tell Them?

Call me nosey or call me inquisitive but I just could not resist the temptation.

After the announcement came through, last night, that Luton Town had offloaded Joe Morrell to Portsmouth, I just had to see what the reaction was on the Portsmouth social media sites.

And it appears my nosiness was well based.

Reading through the hundreds of comments left, you would think that Portsmouth have pulled off the signing of the decade.

The way the signing has been greeted you would think that Pompey have signed Lionel Messi not Joe Morrell.

It would not surprise me if some of the Portsmouth fraternity were out dancing in the streets when the news filtered through that Morrell had put pen-to-paper on a contract.

If you do not believe me, take a look at the posts below:

And the joy continued with some not being able to resist a sly dig at Ipswich Town who, yesterday, were in the running to land the Welsh midfielder:

But perhaps the best post I found, on the Pompey site, came from a Luton Town fan who simply declared:

Now I am not sure the fee was £500,000, as mentioned in our article covering the transfer – midfielder-finally-leaves-the-club – but any fee received for the player fits the message.

I heard he’s got his own shirt at Ipswich and is in the team photo this season, such is his love of the club and the amount of money he’s invested

Was rather sceptical when we signed him last year given his lack of starts for Bristol City.Obviously didn’t fit in at Luton either. So,that to me tells a tale.N.J. doesn’t often get it wrong but I guess if you
fall foul of the boss, you may as well get on your bike.Wish him well at Pompey and hope we managed to get a few quid for him.

Interesting, MH your comments re Ed Sheeran and his “love ” for Ipswich Town. I am an exiled Hatter living in Suffolk and my boy was at school with Sheeran. He reckons Sheeran never had much interest in football then. Strange, then, that he should have waited a few years before declaring an interest in ITFC. Maybe he didn’t agree with the Evans regime. For me, though, it’s great to be able to lord it over their fans – most of whom still live in the Robson era – for yet another season !
