With Simon Sluga’s time at Kenilworth Road now history, it was, perhaps, obvious that Luton Town would bring in a replacement.
The first indication was that it would be the third choice West Bromwich Albion keeper – Alex Palmer – but, for one reason or another, that move didn’t materialise.
Instead, on transfer deadline day, as we may have mentioned earlier today – another-keeper-is-now-on-the-radar – the Hatters have, instead, secured the services, on loan, of the Aston Villa keeper, Jed Steer, as confirmed by the Birmingham Mail
Steer has made just the one appearance for Aston Villa in the Premier League this season, in a fixture in which they lost 3-0 to Chelsea.
His arrival will provide back-up and competition for James Shea, for the green jersey and we would like to take this opportunity to welcome Jed to our wonderful club.
It remains to be seen whether Jed can oust James as our first-choice goalkeeper or whether, like at Aston Villa, he’ll be a regular on the bench.
However, spare a thought for young Harry Isted, who must have hoped he’d be given an opportunity to shine, perhaps he’s one for the future.
